Arp Omni From Mars is normally priced at $18 and it features a collection of seven multi-sampled Arp Omni instrument patches with 145 individual samples in total. The product is available in three different versions, compatible with NI Kontakt 5, Ableton Live 8/9 and Reason NN-XT. All three versions of the library also include the individual samples in 24-bit WAV format, so you can grab those if you use a sampler instrument which isn’t supported out of the box. Please note that the freebie version which you can download below rolls all three versions of the library into a single pack.
Arp Omni is a polyphonic analogue synthesizer which was manufactured in the late 1970s. Although it is not regarded as highly as those popular vintage analogue “legends” such as the Moog Minimoog or the Korg MS-20, this awesome little instrument is certainly capable of producing some warm and rich analogue tones. Its synthesis engine is split into three independent sections (strings, synthesizer, and sass synthesizer) which can be mixed together to build more complex sounds.
Samples From Mars have sampled seven different Arp Omni patches, covering several different filter and oscillator combinations, as well as a couple of great sounding analogue style bass patches. The included samples sound great, perfectly capturing the raw and gritty character of the Arp Omni. You can use the provided samples completely unprocessed, however you can probably get some great results by shaping them a bit in your sampler instrument of choice.
