5 Freeware kHs Essentials VST Plugins Released By kiloHearts!

kiloHearts have announced the release of their new commercial plugin called Multipass, accompanied by a mini collection of five completely free kHs Essentials virtual effects in VST/AU plugin formats for Windows and Mac OS.

These freeware effects are the first five building blocks of the so called “Snap-ins” plugin series by kiloHearts, featuring effects that can be loaded as modules inside Multipass. The great news is they will also work as separate effects in any VST or AU plugin compatible host application. The five kHs Essentials freebies cover a useful set of mixing and sound design tools: chorus, delay, gain, limiter, stereo widener.

All five plugins are quite basic in terms of functionality and thus very easy to use. They were obviously designed to work as modules in a more complex plugin, which is great for users who are looking for a set of super lightweight plugins for handling basic tasks. The kHs Essentials can be put to great effect in any modular instrument (such as MuTools MUX, for example) and they can also work well as building blocks of a software based live performance setup due to their extremely low CPU usage. The plugins used around 2% or less of available CPU resources (individually) on our test machine, which is quite a feat nowadays!

The chorus and delay effects are the most feature-packed of the bunch and the limiter plugin works surprisingly well considering its price and lack of advanced controls. It is very similar to LoudMax, a long-time favorite freebie limiter of ours. The gain and stereo widener plugins are quite rudimentary, but they both definitely serve their purpose.

The installation procedure is very simple if you follow the steps properly. The best way to do it is to add the kHs Essentials bundle to your shopping cart on the product page linked below and complete the checkout process. The plugins will be automatically registered to your user account (there’s no need to take any additional sign-up steps) and the license codes will be delivered to you in a confirmation email. At this point, simply download the installer and choose a folder to install the plugins to. The installer will automatically install and activate the contents of the kHs Essentials bundle.
