DMG Audio has introduced TrackControl, a freeware channel strip utility in VST/VST3/AU/AAX/RTAS plugin formats for PC and Mac.
The developer describes TrackControl as a “general-purpose utility for making life easier in a session”. It is one of the one-fifth of DMG Audio’s new TrackRange plugin lineup, a collection of problem-solving tools for everyday mixing tasks. TrackControl is the only freeware plugin of the bunch, offered as a free download for all DMG Audio’s registered users (this includes new registrations as well).
In terms of specs, TrackControl is an all-in-one channel strip plugin featuring trim and gain controls, channel swapping and MS/LR conversion, phase inversion (per channel), stereo width, pan and balance controls, channel delay (both backward and forward) and a high-pass filter. The output control (located in the menu bar) allows the user to monitor the Mid/Side and Left/Right components of the processed audio signal individually. A patch manager is also included, along with a bypass switch and input/output gain monitoring. It’s also worth pointing out that the plugin will only display a limited amount of controls when loaded on a mono channel, to avoid any confusion (stereo balance, pan, and width controls are left out in this case).
I’m pretty sure that TrackControl is the most feature-packed channel strip plugin on the freeware market, at least when it comes to cross-platform plugins that support such a wide range of formats on PC and Mac. It packs plenty of functionality in a nicely designed interface, without feeling cluttered or being cumbersome to use. Needless to say, I’m a big fan of such products and I’m giving TrackControl a massive thumbs up.
To download TrackControl, simply log in to your DMG Audio user account, or create a new account on the page linked below. Don’t forget to also download the authorization key from your user are. The plugin needs to be activated when launched for the first time.

onA new plugin by DMG Audio and it has got a HPF and STEREO WIDTH as well….!!! The best part is the HPF. Almost replaced the freeware bx_cleansweep V2 as the first choice for HPF while maintaining the sonic characteristics of the audio signal. Great.

onI cant get this to work for some reason. It does nothing. It doesnt detect peaks, and changing the input and Output volume does nothing. Hmm.
