Denis Tihanov has released v2.02 (beta) of the freeware OrilRiver reverb VST plugin. The update introduces VST/VST3 plugin format support on Mac OS and also features a couple of new GUI skins.
OrilRiver is one of the finest freeware reverb effects on the market, providing commercial-grade sound quality while being outstandingly well optimized for low CPU usage. It ranked as the 7th best freeware effect in our top 25 list of free VST plugins released in 2016. One of the main reasons why it didn’t rank even higher was the fact that v1.0 only worked on Windows. Thankfully, the new 2.0 version of OrilRiver introduces VST and VST3 plugin format support on Mac-based digital audio workstations.
Apart from the improved cross-platform compatibility, the updated version extends the range of the EQ knobs (from -24 dB to 12 dB) and also includes two completely new skins and a short user manual in PDF format. The plugin remained completely the same otherwise. Most importantly, the CPU usage is still very low for a reverb plugin (around 4% per instance on our test machine). Despite the fact that it doesn’t consume a CPU power, OrilRiver delivers high-quality room and hall reverb simulation with a wide range of adjustable sound engine parameters. The user interface is intuitive and the controls are easy to understand.
The new OrilRiver skins were designed by Crimson Merry, a talented GUI designer who also developed our free BPB Cassette Drums drum machine bundle. The plugin is available for direct free download from the KVR Audio product page linked below. It comes in a ZIP archive which contains the files required for manual installation.
OrilRiver is available for free download via KVR Audio (23.6 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/VST3 plug-in format for Windows & Mac OS).

onYas! Love this plug! And the new grey skin looks so tasty and crisp! Kinda liked the original skin in its early-ninties-ugliness tho :)
Great blog, many thanks!

onFailing AU validation in Logic x. Anybody been successful in getting it to work?

onDoes anyone know how to change the skin in fl studio? Thank you so much!!!

onThis should work for every DAW: you click on the title bar, the area between the presets (icon lock) and the bypass button. Don’t forget to reopen the plugin after you change the skin.
P.S. Skin 1 is dark one and Skin 2 is light.

onAU will not validate in Logic 10.4.7 on High Sierra 10.13.6. Hoping the dev will fix this one.

onI am just simply trying to add some reverb to my phone video where I play guitar and sing a song I’m finding it complicated to find a way to do that
Tomislav Zlatic
onAre you editing your video on the phone or are you using a computer?

onI just switched from a Windows laptop to MacBook with M1 cpu and I can’t get this vst to work. Reaper just won’t recognize it. Such a bummer. This was my favorite reverb plugin.
