Audio Plugin Deals is giving away the Black 76 Limiting Amplifier (€99.99 value) plugin by IK Multimedia as a completely free download from its website until December 25th, 2019.

Black 76 Limiting Amplifier is a software emulation of the Universal Audio 1176LN Limiting Amplifier (revision E). The 1176LN was the first-ever true peak limiter with solid-state circuitry. It is one of the most commonly used hardware limiters/compressors in high-end recording studios. The hardware unit is known for its bright sound and its fast attack, which is often used to make drums sound more punchy.

The plugin version of the 1176LN Limiting Amplifier promises to deliver the same sound characteristics as its hardware counterpart. IK Multimedia has closely modeled the tone and the dynamic behavior of the hardware compressor. They even emulated the “all buttons in” mode, which is a unique feature of the hardware 1176LN. It is a trick that audio engineers often use to make the compressor behave rather aggressive, distorting the sound on the input.

Even when you simply load the Black 76 Limiting Amplifier as an insert on a track, without applying any compression, the plugin will color the sound. As for the compression workflow, the Black 76 Limiting Amplifier features the same control scheme as the hardware unit. It is exceptionally intuitive and easy to use.

Black 76 Limiting Amplifier is usually priced at $99.99, but you can get it for free via Audio Plugin Deals until Christmas. To download your free copy of the plugin, visit the product page linked below, and complete the checkout process. A valid email address is required to receive the download link. Black 76 Limiting Amplifier is compatible with VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin hosts on PC and Mac. Both 32-bit and 64-bit digital audio workstations are supported.

    • It installs all of the T-racks plugs. Just do the install, delete the plugs you don’t want, problem solved, no more worries.

      • That’s not the point! The point is: why download close to 2 gb of software just to use one single plugin? In terms of energy efficiency (electronic transmissions via the web cost a lot of energy, which in terms has immediate consequences for carbon emissions and climate), this is completely unacceptable. It’s 2020 and we are trying to prevent a climate catastrophy, yet IKM with their stupid installation procedure is stuck in time.

Seeing that over all these years IKM still hasn’t fixed their authorization and installation method to adhere to best practice standards, I will happily decline their offer and stay away from buying anything from them.

      • Nope. You can’t leave the dll you want. You also need another file that is over 1GB on your drive where the graphics for the plugins are. BPB should mention stuff this. They often do, but not this time. Deleting. I’ll stick with Fetish 2 from Analog Obsession, which is 6,4 MB.

  1. Just the Next account-ware, disgusting,
collecting data for third parties, full installer,
probably will load all the demo software …

        • Seriously, we need to boycott those ransomware distributors and internet traffic spammers with their 1gb installers for one tiny 20 mb plugin. There is no other way these companies will learn it. Even Ilok is more user friendly than what IKM is doing here – and that says something!

Just stick to companies who follow fair and user friendly business practice! Typically it’s the smaller developers who don’t use “license managers” and 1gb installers, but just let you download and authorize your plugins quickly!

  2. I started downloading this plugin and then noticed the size of the download, upon which I immediately interrupted it and deleted my IK account. Such irresponsible business practice is absolutely unacceptable.

Now my email account is being buried with their “IK Multimedia – Delete Account Verified” messages – around 1700 copies so far.

As if I had any doubts.

  3. FYI: Before you go to the page, realize you will need to provide all your personal info (street address and phone number too). I didn’t get far enough to find out what happens if you uncheck the box that says they can use all that info for marketing purposes.

  4. I couldn’t agree more with IKE, IAN, VLAD and others. At first I was impressed by the offer. Shortly after that I remembered my reaction from January this year, in regards to huge download size. Back then IK Multimedia offered multiband compressor for free. I didn’t install it and won’t install this compressor either. Waste of disk space and bad marketing practice.
