Helper Transients 2 is a transient shaper plugin for Windows and macOS. It is one of the tools available in W.A. Production’s popular Helper Series Mega Pack bundle ($193.90 value), which contains three plugins and over 2,000 sounds (currently on sale for $14.90).
The plugin features a simple user interface optimized for a fast transient shaping workflow. That said, Helper Transients 2 packs a couple of interesting tricks that you won’t find in most other transient shapers.
The main control is the Transients knob which, unsurprisingly, controls the intensity of the detected transients. As expected, the user can fine-tune both the attack transient and the signal’s sustain.
Things get more interesting at the bottom of the GUI, where you’ll find the audio channel controls. Helper Transients 2 can focus on a specific portion of the signal, including the mid, the sides, or the left and right channels. This allows for more precise and transparent transient shaping, which is quite useful if you want to apply some subtle enhancements to, say, an acoustic drum recording.
You can narrow down the target area even further thanks to the included high-pass and low-pass filters. By combining these filters and the channel selection, the user can pinpoint a specific portion of the signal where the transients are located.
