Viator DSP Releases FREE Multi-Q Equalizer Plugin

Viator DSP releases Multi-Q, a freeware equalizer VST plugin for macOS and Windows.

Multi-Q offers three types of EQ in a single plugin; Graphic, Parametric, and Tube. All three EQ types are available to use individually or simultaneously.

The Graphic EQ features ten bands from 31Hz to 15kHz, and each band provides -12dB to 12dB of gain. The bands use proportional bandwidth to create a more hardware-like user experience.

Talking of hardware, the developer says while the GUI might look like famous analog EQs, Multi-Q is not a hardware emulation. The GUI is straightforward, unclustered, and very user-friendly in the typical Viator DSP style. You can type values into dials and faders for increased speed and accuracy.

The Parametric EQ offers four EQ bands with individual frequency selecting knobs and -12dB to 12dB of gain.

The Tube EQ features two sets of EQ bands, each with a boost/cut knob for highs and lows.

Multi-Q comes with some very nice features, including High/Low pass filters and Drive for tube-style saturation. Next to the filters and Drive slider, you’ll find an Output Trim to set the output volume.

If you’ve been tweaking with reckless abandon, a handy Reset button will return all sliders (for the chosen model) to 0dB. Filters individually turn off at 0dB, which is a nice little CPU-saving feature. Drive also turns off at 0dB, and the High/Low pass filters disengage when set to 20Hz and 20kHz, respectively. The GUI has a little CPU monitor that can be toggled on or off.

Beside the Reset button are two menus: the Quality menu and the Stereo menu. The Quality menu is where you can select no oversampling or 2X oversampling. The Stereo menu provides mid/side processing options.

To the right of the menus is a Phase invert button.

This plugin is free, as is the recent Stimulate Harmonic Exciter and many others, but donations and Patreon subscriptions are welcomed.

Multi-Q is available in 64-bit AU, VST, and VST3 formats for macOS (M1 and Intel) and Windows.
