Mastering.com has teamed up with IK Multimedia to provide all students with a free copy of T-RackS Classic Clipper.
If you’re unfamiliar with Mastering.com, it’s an excellent online educational resource that doesn’t have to cost a penny.
Mastering.com offers a selection of free online courses covering topics like:
- How to use an EQ
- How to use reverb
- How to master your music
- How to produce & mix pro vocals
There are several paid membership options starting at $49 per month, and for that, you’ll get access to exclusive courses, guided mentorship, and more.
IK Multimedia’s T-RackS Classic Clipper usually costs $49.99, but with this promotion, it’s free until August 22nd, 2024.
This processing module offers more dynamic control using peak clipping to tame peaks rather than peak limiting. Specifically, it employs soft peak clipping to produce the most transparent results.
Hard clipping comes with many low-order harmonics and walks a thin line between something that sounds nice and far too harsh.
On the other hand, soft clipping becomes non-linear at a lower level, and the subtle transition better preserves dynamics while adding rich harmonic character.
The results of soft clipping are more analogue-like because it rounds off the peaks rather than aggressively chopping them.
The T-RackS Classic Clipper is easy to use with a few controls: Gain, Slope, and Output.
IK Multimedia suggests several ways to make the most of this versatile plugin. Firstly, as a last stage dynamic control, and secondly, as a way to generate harmonic saturation.
I like IK Multimedia; they get it right more often than not, and despite the occasional complaint about the product manager, people generally seem more than happy with the quality of their plugins.
I’m also a big fan of their virtual instruments, especially MODO Bass and Hammond B-3X.
August has already been a good month for freebies, and here’s one of my favourites so far:
UAD’s Century Tube Channel Strip is free until September 15th! With a regular price of $199, you don’t want to miss this offer.
And, if you need some new sounds before taking on mixing and mastering, check out Antiquarian Echoes by Somerville Sounds; it’s lovely!
Check out the deal: T-RackS Classic Clipper (FREE when subscribing to Mastering.com – offer ends August 22nd)

onWell, I already have it and been using it for a very long time. It’s a great plugin. Highly recommended.
earl
onSo you only get it for free if you have a paid membership at mastering.com?
Lucas
onNo, you just need to subscribe to master.com to get the promotion.
Any sort of paid membership aside, they have a free, three-day mix session walkthrough/Q&A by way of Zoom, usually about once a month, which you’ll get alerted to if you subscribe.
I’ve been attending the free sessions for about a year and a half now and they’re informative, led by a handful of genuinely knowledgeable people who’ve been working in the industry for years. They also occasionally have engineers come in, associates like Devvon Terrel and Warren Huart. Highly recommended.

onI usually love IK. For some reason I’m having major issues with Custom Shop and Miroslav Philharmonik 2 (Full). I tried to submit a ticket with them through the support center on the website which errors on 3 browsers and 2 computers. I tried FB and FB Messenger with no response. It has been several weeks and I’m no closer to a solution. I’m desperate (as I’m bothering you good people with this here). My other IK products are still working perfectly.
alex
onYeah, that’s the problem with big companies – bad or slow customer support (or both). However, it seems I’m the one of lucky ones who never had problems with this particular company, but I have heard a lot of people complaining over the years (some of it was user error, TBF) I hope you’ll get it sorted because the plugins are really good. BTW, I did have some problems with their instruments when I was checking them, but I never really had the intention to use them, anyway. I only use Mix Box, T-Racks, Amplitube and Modo Bass and those work.
Plörre

onYes, Just received my serial key via IK multimedia newsletter Email. Not Fake company sorry.
Aneta
onHey, did you get your serial key as a code in the e-mail? I’m asking because I in fact did get the message from them supposedly with the serial key and all but there is no string of numbers nor anything in the e-mail and I’m dumb on how to unlock the plugin.
Aneta
onOk, I just wanted to give an update to my previous comment – I managed to sort it out and got the plugin :). I apologize for the trouble and thank you if anybody has read it. It’s all good now.
Julian
onHey Aneta :) What was your solution? I have the same problem
Aneta
onHello :). My issue was that the e-mail which I used in the giveaway was different to the one I had created the IK account with before. And therefore when I clicked the ‘Promotions’ link in the message from IK Multimedia I felt lost because there was no plugin nor any redeem code appearing on the page so I didn’t know how I should unlock the plugin or whether I was missing something. It appears the giveaway plugin serial code has been linked with the e-mail used in the giveaway. And so, after I changed the e-mail address in my IK multimedia profile data to the one used in the giveaway, the ‘Promotions’ link suddenly leads me to the serial code and all works well. Hope that helps :)
Julian
onIt worked! Brilliant idea! Thank you :)
