Great Sound FX Tips By Freddie Wong

2

I tend to get so occupied with tweaking all these software synths and effects to perfection, that it makes me forget how it’s sometimes the very simple and basic stuff that actually sounds the best.

In the following video, a popular Youtube artist Freddie Wong (aka freddiew) explains how he does sound design for his very entertaining and pro looking videos.

Even though the tutorial is about doing FX for videos, many of the things that are mentioned can be applied to music production. Especially if you’re a poor bedroom producer. :]

The do-it-yourself approach with recording your own sounds and samples can really help you come up with some interesting and completely original sounds for your tracks. The monitoring advice that Freddie makes in the video is also essential. Even if you can’t afford the best listening room and monitoring equipment, you can still make good results if you understand how your work sounds on different sound systems like portable mp3 players, car stereos, etc.
