Korzenie Kick – Free Kick Drum Synthesizer VSTi Plugin Released By Saltline

Korzenie Kick is a freeware kick drum synthesizer released by Saltline, an independent VST plugin developer from Cheshire (England). The plugin is available as a free download in 32-bit VSTi plugin format for Windows based digital audio workstations.

The plugin use threes individual synthesis layers to sculpt the final kick drum sound on the output. The body, mid and FM/noise layers can be mixed individually and they also have separate controls for pitch and volume envelope. This opens tons of possibilities for kick drum sound design, however it also means that the instrument is capable of generating some other cool stuff like SFX sounds and even bass patches.

For users who are looking for some production ready kick drums rather than tons of programming possibilities, Saltline has included a pretty decent set of factory presets which showcase the sound pallette of the plugin rather well. It’s worth noting that some of the presets were created by Hinton & Fairchild, the guys who brought us the fantastic BIGROOMKIXSYNTH kick drum synthesizer which you can download for free via BPB.

Korzenie Kick marks the beginning of a new plugin series by Saltline, which will focus on recreating various classic drum machines in VSTi plugin format. Being a huge fan of drum machines and the Saltline product line, I honestly can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the Korzenie plugin series! A full-blown drum synthesizer in the style of Drumatic 3 would be a real treat!

Their previous series named Drzewo spawned three high quality virtual synthesizers, my favorite being the great sounding FM synthesizer called Brzoza which was also included in our Top 20 list of freeware VST plugins from 2013. The Drzewo series also features three rather useful virtual effects, all of which are available for free download from the Saltline website linked below.
