Jakob Reinhardt has released The Crispy Clean Strat, a free Stratocaster electric guitar sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt (also includes WAV samples).
The Crispy Clean Strat is a freely downloadable Stratocaster sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt. The full version of Kontakt is required to use the included NKI patch. The library will only work for fifteen minutes in the free Kontakt Player (learn more about the Kontakt Player demo mode). However, everyone can use the included WAV samples in their favorite digital audio workstation or sampler plugin.
See also: Best FREE Guitar SamplesThe library features the sounds of The Black Classic Stratocaster, built by James Tyler Guitar. The guitar was played through an American Clean 2×12 amplifier, with the pickup set to the neck/middle position. Interestingly, and unlike the majority of guitar sound libraries out there, DI samples are not included. This means two things:
- The Crispy Clean Strat is ready to play out-of-the-box. You don’t need to pass the signal through a guitar amp simulator.
- The library is less versatile than most other guitar sound packs because you can only get one type of tone.
That said, The Crispy Clean Strat does indeed sound very good without any additional processing. Also, users who don’t want to complicate things with third-party amp simulators will like the added simplicity. If you’re looking for that classic clean Stratocaster guitar tone, The Crispy Clean Strat is worth a look.
One big drawback, though, is the lack of round-robins and velocity layers. Each note was sampled only once, without additional variations.
The library comes with a custom user interface for Kontakt. The Kontakt patch features three built-in effects (chorus, reverb, and tape saturation), along with the volume and tone adjustments. Again, the library is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player plugin.
