Sound On Sound magazine offers the Energy Panner ($49 list price) plugin by Sound Particles as a free download for a limited time only.
Energy Panner is a dynamic 3D panning effect by Sound Particles. The plugin analyzes the incoming signal’s volume and uses it as the modulation source for panning.
This simple technique lets music producers and sound designers save time they would usually spend on automation. Instead of following an automation curve, Energy Panner will apply movement to the audio signal based on its amplitude.
The plugin also features a sidechain input which lets the user modulate the panning with an external audio source. For example, you can use the drum track to modulate the synth sounds. Or side-chain two cinematic sound effects to add dynamic movement to a scene.
Two different processing modes are included: Panning Mode and Sliding Mode. The latter is a more complex type of modulation that lets you apply more sophisticated panning patterns to the source audio.
Another handy feature is the Randomization option which comes up with random modulation patterns each time it’s clicked. You can use it to generate new patterns until you find something that fits your current project.
“Energy Panner uses the intensity of a sound to control its movement. From traditional stereo to immersive, this plugin enables artists to add dynamic depth to their panning techniques without any effort or additional routing.”
Energy Panner can handle different types of audio outputs, from stereo to 7.1, binaural, and Dolby Atmos.
If you’re a sound designer or a music producer looking to incorporate some dynamic movement in your mixes, you should definitely check out Energy Panner.
Energy Panner typically costs $49, but you can get it for free for a limited time (there is no information on when the free download offer will expire). To download your free copy, visit the promo page linked below, enter your name and email address and click the Register button.
The software is available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on Windows and macOS.

onsurely one of you guys at bpb know, what changed in april that we are getting so many free plugins?!

onI said it before, April is the new Black Friday! :) On a more serious note, most companies and creators take a break in Q1 because Q4 is seriously exhausting (Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas). So, April seems to be the time when things are gearing up again. The summer months are typically slow, too. And then things start getting crazy again in early October.

A while back I made a Dynamic Panning rack for Ableton Live which you can download for free via Brian Funk’s gumroad: https://brianfunk.gumroad.com/l/panningfx
It uses a neutrally-summing pair of compressors to pan audio in various degrees of reaction to the audio source.

onThat looks awesome, thanks for sharing it.

onNice plugin, but I think it’s too complicated to use.I would rather use something like pancake 2.

onVery nice plugin. I was just making some music where the voices are repeatedly played, and it fit very well.
