Overloud Releases FREE Hybrid Reverb Library For REMatrix Player

2

Overloud released Hybrid Free, a collection of hybrid reverb impulse responses for the freeware REmatrix Player plugin.

The freeware REmatrix Player convolution plugin already has a substatial set of content available for it. The latest Hybrid Free reverb collection expands it even further with an exciting mashup of real-life and digital reverbs.

Hybrid Free is a relatively lightweight library but comes with a good variety of sound sources and presets.

Users get a pair of impulse responses for halls, rooms, early reflections, and a special section. This is coupled with an additional fifteen presets using these impulse responses.

The core sound of the presets themselves is a nice mix of typical real-world spaces with some more imaginative additions to the impulse responses.

I loved the included hall reverbs, which have a wonderful quality to them for synth pads. The plates also have an excellent quality, and I had quite a bit of fun throwing them on some guitar leads.

Hybrid Free serves as a taster for Hybrid Platinum, which comes with even more presets to throw at REmatrix Player.

The actual sound design process was conducted by MoReVoX. It’s meant to evoke a sense of real spaces synthesized with digital reverb units. These are then fed into multiple layers of analogue processing before being rendered into their final form.

As a standalone release, Hybrid Free is a fantastic set of reverb impulse responses that are ready to use in your projects. If you’ve been on the fence with any of the Overloud products, it is definitely worth your time to take a look at their REmatrix reverb plugin.

Unlike most free IR loaders, REmatrix is capable of layering multiple IRs together while also applying additional processing and effects. It is less of a static convolution reverb, and more something akin to a reverb channel strip.

Hybrid Free is always free and is available to anyone with a free Overloud account.

REmatrix Player and REmatrix are available for Windows and Mac computers. Supported plugin formats are VST, AU, and AAX.

Overloud hasn’t announced a refresh for Apple Silicon compatibility for REmatrix just yet, but given recent support for TH-U and the GEM plugin line, it is just a matter of time.
