MeldaProduction MDynamicEq Is FREE Until July 16th

MeldaProduction celebrates its 15th Anniversary by offering the MDynamicEq plugin as a FREE download until July 16th, 2023.

MDynamicEq is a 5-band dynamic equalizer plugin for Windows and macOS. The developer MeldaProduction describes it as “the 2nd most powerful (dynamic) equalizer available,” but can it rival the freeware TDR Nova we reviewed recently?

If we only compare the included features between the two, the answer is definitely yes.

MDynamicEq boasts an abundance of built-in workflow enhancement tools and visual aids to make your music mixing process easier. It offers a built-in sonogram, frequency analyzer, and an auto-listen feature to help you pinpoint the clashing frequencies in your mix.

You can control multiple parameters simultaneously using the multiparameter feature. It is handy for modulating multiple parameters using a single automation lane in your DAW. It’s equally useful for sound design, letting you completely morph a sound with a simple knob twist.

The plugin also comes with a sidechain option which does wonders when processing complex and bass-heavy sounds. It’s particularly useful when cleaning up drum loops. I used MDynamicEq to isolate a muddy kick drum and clean up the loop without affecting the other elements.

Another useful feature is the saturation mode which adds harmonics to the signal. You can use it to enhance the incoming audio and add a bit of warmth after removing the unwanted frequencies.

Let’s forget about the advanced features for a minute, though.

At its core, MDynamicEq is a 5-band equalizer with excellent-sounding variable-slope filters. If you don’t need the advanced features, you can use it as a plain old parametric EQ for handling basic mixing tasks.

MeldaProduction also included high-pass and low-pass filters, which are handy for removing low-frequency rumble and high-frequency noise. So, you can easily use MDynamicEq as the first insert across your entire project and use it to clean up the signal before it hits the compressor.

But, the truth is that MDynamicEq shines as a surgical dynamic equalizer for dealing with more complex aspects of mixing and mastering. It works as a de-esser, a versatile multi-band EQ, or a signal enhancer that will add weight and punch to your drums.

And, to be honest, we’re only scratching the surface in this article. Refer to the full feature list on MeldaProduction’s website for a more detailed look at what this capable dynamic EQ can do.

Back to the TDR Nova comparison, one aspect where the Tokyo Dawn Labs plugin truly outshines MeldaProduction’s limited-time freebie is the GUI department. TDR Nova’s user interface is cleaner and much better at keeping the advanced features out of sight unless they’re needed.

That said, getting MDynamicEq for free is one of the best deals we’ve seen so far this year. It’s a wonderful gift to the music production community from MeldaProduction (Happy 15th Anniversary, Melda!).

MDynamicEq is compatible with VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin hosts on Windows and macOS. The free download offer expires on July 16th, 2023.
