JRRshop.com is giving away a copy of the New York L 1991 Lite Piano from Boz Digital Labs for free when you use the code “FreeBoz” at checkout.
We all know and love Steinway pianos. They are historically known for their lush and open sound which we’ve heard in all kinds of music, from classical legends like Sergei Rachmaninoff, to pop stars like Billy Joel.
Boz Digital Labs has 2 Steinway Model L piano plugins, and it is available in their New York L Bundle. The bundle includes the Lite versions of a 1926 and a 1991 model, each with its unique tone.
Their 1926 Lite model still seems to be free on the Boz Digital Labs website, and you can grab it right here.
However, today, we will talk about the 1991 Lite model, which JRRshop is currently giving away for free (originally $19).
New York L 1991 Lite version is a heavily condensed version of the Pro version of this plugin and only takes up a whopping 50MB of your hard drive.
That means significantly fewer samples, velocity layers, and round robins, but the sound is quite nice for such a small piano library.
You also get only one of the 5 mic positions provided in the Pro version.
However, there is still a decent amount of control you have over the sound stage, with the Lite version.
A custom velocity curve can be set up according to your MIDI keyboard, as well as tuning, transposition and even MIDI channel.
You can also tweak resonance (which seems to emulate room sound, and can sound quite washy on extreme settings) and the dynamics at which your MIDI input affects the velocity layers.
On top of these, the Lite version provides control over reverb, as well as an overall tone control, 3-band EQ, and stereo width.
Overall, I would say this is an impressive amount of control for such a small plugin that emulates a classic piano.
New York L 1991 Lite runs as a plugin on Windows and macOS, in formats VSTi, VST3i, AU, and AAX, and is Standalone on 64-bit machines.

onAfter adding to the cart and creating an account at JRR, after receiving the confirmation email, I logged in to the account. There is nothing in the My Downloadable Products tab. In the My Orders tab I found information that the order was completed and an inactive link to the website https://www.bozmasterkeys.com/checkout/ as well as the Coupon Code. I went to the indicated bozmasterkeys website. When I entered the code, a message appeared that the code was invalid and the price was 29 euros, although on the JRR website I had a discount of 0 euros. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I tried to download many times but the process was the same every time.

onIt’s really complicated, but it works.
You get another Coupon with the email from jrr.
Then you must sign in to boysmasterkeys, use the couponcode from the email.
After the download you find it as Masterkeys in your Daw where you need the serial from boysmaster. Sounds quite nice, first impression.
Good luck!

onI got it with no issues at all. It’s definetely not complicated. Many thanks, Boz Digital Labs, JRRshop and BPB.

onNot forgetting to wish Uncle E and JRR Shop happy birthday ! :-)
Worked flawlessly for me, after doing the purchase with the code at JRR Shop, I went to my account there to get my serial, then I went to Boz Digital Labs and used that serial to get the product for free.

onIs a joke, email with the second coupon never arrived.

onUse the last 10 digits of the link in your JRRshop order. That is your coupon code to make New York L 1991 – Lite free on bozmasterkeys site.
Peter Barns
onThe order number only have 9 digits.

onFirst of, Omar didn’t say it’s the order number, it’s something else. Go to ‘My account’ at JRRshop, then under ‘Recent orders’ go to ‘View order’. There you will find the link with the 10 digits coupon. I didn’t get an email with the coupon either, yet I got the piano with no issues.

onAbsolute cluster. If you think plugin companies that use iLok are bad, this is worse. What a convoluted process. Hey I appreciate a freebie, but I’m only going to jump through a few hoops and if it still fails, I bail. Not sure what the purpose of the JRR shop is. When you finally get to the Boz site, you need to create an account and go through the sale process. Then you get to download an installer and then download the free Lite piano. Good luck.

onThis was way to complicated. Thanks though for all your comments, they helped me out. Don´t know if it was worth it though…
Mr Snowman
onNot working for me at all. Tried many times but on each occasion the code was deemed to be invalid. I even tried on different browsers to see if that made any difference. Sadly, it didn’t. Oh well, some you win …
Thanks all the same to the BPB crew!
