Overloud has made the Studio Sessions Free reverb collection available as a freebie. All you need to get it up and running is the free REmatrix Player.
The REmatrix Player IR loader is a free plugin for Windows and macOS in AU, VST, AAX, and standalone formats.
Overloud describes Studio Sessions Free as a collection of the best reverb units from the 1970s until today.
The collection features 10 IRs and 15 presets. These were created by capturing the following reverb units: Lexicon PCM 81, Lexicon PCM 90, Lexicon 224, Lexicon 480, Lexicon 200, Yamaha SPX990, and Eventide H3000.
Overloud states that Studio Sessions Free was created by “capturing the best reverb units found on many different studios. They have been recorded in their purest form as well as through several consoles in order to capture the beauty of each different coloration.”
Studio Sessions Free is the little brother of Overloud’s Studio Sessions verb collection.
Studio Sessions features 150 IRs and 100 individual presets and is currently available on sale for €39, down from the list price of €79.
The first full Studio Sessions collection was launched back in September 2017.
Overloud launched Studio Sessions II the following year, and it’s currently also available for €39, down from €79.
Likewise, REmatrix Player is the free version of the full version of REmatrix (€119, reduced from €239).
REmatrix Player allows you to load the IRs and presets of any REmatrix library, and also provides basic editing capabilities.
If you’re curious to see how the collection sounds in practice, Overloud produced a YouTube demo featuring developer Sabino Cannone along with audio samples of the verbs.
The Studio Session demo features the reverbs on drums and acoustic guitar. The Studio Sessions II YouTube demo meanwhile features the collection on vocals and accordion, and we all know no verb demo is complete without some sick accordion jams.
These collections are part of the Overloud reverb ecosystem, and there’s a wide array of paid expansion packs available.
Users can download Studio Sessions Free straight from the plugin’s product page.
Getting it up and running with the REmatrix Player is a bit of a process though, the six steps of which are outlined on the product page for Studio Sessions Free.
