Waves has announced the release of the IDX Intelligent Dynamics as its Black Friday giveaway.
We covered news of a Waves Black Friday giveaway not too long ago, and the biggest news was that we didn’t really have any news to share.
If that sentence sounds confusing, here’s some context.
Waves announced the upcoming release, a new plugin that would launch on Black Friday and be available for free for a limited time.
When we received the news, we were under strict instructions not to share any details about the plugin.
Instead, we guided you toward a landing page where you could register your interest in the freebie; if you want the plugin, enter your email now if you haven’t already done so.
Before I get into the plugin, I have some other news you may or may not already know: Flame Sound has launched the Pyro SFX sound design starter kit, and it’s awesome! Check it out.
Finally, it is time for us to tell you about the IDX Intelligent Dynamics plugin.
Waves IDX is a frequency-dependent compressor that attenuates excess energy in your track. The developer likens it to an SLR camera lens, bringing the most important information into focus.
IDX focuses on excess energy that might go unnoticed by itself but can muddy the track when mixed with similar frequencies.
Waves suggest inserting IDX at the start of any plugin chain on multiple tracks (even on the master bus), and as such, they made sure it’s easy to use and generates quick results.
IDX has just a handful of controls positioned around the central Threshold knob. As you turn the knob, you lower the threshold, allowing more of the input to be processed.
The plugin features a nice graph display showing the input signal, dynamic reduction, and adjustable threshold tilt.
Attack and release settings are coupled in a single Speed control above the Hard/Soft knee selector.
IDX features a Quick Match makeup gain function.
With just a few controls to worry about, it’s pretty easy to throw IDX on a track and find a sweet spot that makes it sound cleaner, brighter, or more vibrant. Generating pleasing results quickly makes IDX a good candidate for setting the foundations across your mix.
It gets results quickly, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Every track, instrument, or mix is different, and you can easily stray into unpleasant territory, leaving the track sounding thin or harsh.
Remember, IDX is only free for a limited time, so get in early.

alex
onRequires both phone number and credit card info. It’s a pity, though. It does seem interesting,
Ian
onIt doesn’t require card, I’ve just got it. Thanks Yfrsn

onWell, good that you guys tried it. All those fields are marked as mandatory so I didn’t even bother to try.
alex
onJust tried it and I really like it. Thx!

onI recommend check the istaller in virustotal and see what that plugin comes with
alex
onYeah, Bkav pro seems to be a company no one has ever heard of that often falsely flags files as malicious (after a quick search I found a bunch of examples).

onSynergy DSP EchoVerb es gratuito con el código ECHOVERB100OFF
alex
onNo reason not to check this one :) Thx!

onLooks overly simple, looks like a joke tbh, cannot believe anyone would be excited by this, let alone pay for it !
For a free delay, way way better option with DEELAY !!
TenorSaxophone
onI think it’s because of Waves historic reputation at this point. Otherwise yes, most of their releases aren’t that great anymore.
But we all like these promos so we sign up and download, especially if we have waves already. An average plugin is about 20-50 mb, so that helps with that decision. Lol.
Neil
onI believe he was talking about the Synergy DSP EchoVerb being a lesser option than the free Deelay, Not talking about the Waves plugin which is not a delay but kind of an AI compressor and actually does add something to the table for many people.
As for the Synergy DSP EchoVerb, the cool thing about it is it’s a quick way to do the delay into reverb thing. But there problem is that there doesn’t seem to be a dry/wet control for the reverb, only a dry/wet the effect as a whole. So you if you want mostly delay with just a little bit of reverb you can’t do it. So even though the sound is good it lacks important controls.

onI hate Waves so ******* much.
This has to be the five hundredth time in however many years that I’ve been locked out of my account.
The name and password are correct, browser cleared and clutter-free, tried it (as usual,) in four different browsers on three different computers, even threw on a VPN to see if they hate my region, still nothing; the Log In button “clicks” but doesn’t log me in. And Waves being Waves, well… you can’t open a ticket without first signing in. I could always dredge up an old correspondence from my email, but I’m not really feeling like it’s worth the stress of tracking down their support crew who’ll ultimately tell me that I need to “make sure my name and password are correct” and to “clear my cache.”
Dumb.

onQuestion: Is it worth getting this if I already had Wavesfactory Trackspacer/Florah Lite? Reading the plugin it seems like a clone of Trackspacer
ST4MUSIC
onYea- it’s not really ducking based on a Side chain input. It attenuates more like Smoothe Operator based on where the Threshold is set and how it’s set based on Frequency input of the source material. I dig it for general tonal balancing on already processed audio that needs just a tad more polish.
Numanoid
onOhm Force has updated the free Frohmager to v1.1: Mac users get Native silicon support, and Windows users gets VST3.
Docent Novak
onI hope they improved the stability. I really like this plugin, I like the sound of it, but in FL Studio automation often stopped working, so when I had to use automation I usually chose MetaFilter by Waves.
Numanoid
onCubic Audio is selling Ascension Hybrid Synth for just five bucks, it ships with more than 1500 presets
But the sale ends already tomorrow.
I already own it, quite happy with it, even though I find it heavy on the CPU

onParity EQ by Stagecraft Software is free ’till December 7th. You have to hurry ’cause the number of available licenses are running out. (Free keys remaining 610)
Numanoid
onThanks, but I must admit I won’t use anything by Stagecraft even it is free, I find their products buggy and unreliable.
Just trying to enter their website now, gave my system a glitch.
Michal Ochedowski
onThere is no information on Stagecraft website about this eq being free. I couldn’t find any other website that mentions such offer.
Michal Ochedowski
onMy bad, just found it after posting the above comment. Already received a product key. Must admit that it was super fast.

onWaves! Forever ordained into the Hall of Shame for the Waves Nonlinear Summer scam :D
Michal Ochedowski
onCare to elaborate or provide a link? What was this scam about?
Jack
onThe scam is that it doesn’t do any nonlinear summing, or any summing at all. After you buy it, it says that in the manual–but they’ll never tell you ahead of time.
It’s just some basic channel saturation that those slimebags decided to name “nonlinear summer”.
