Developer Waves has announced a new plugin for Black Friday with 10,000 FREE copies available.
Those of you who were suitably unimpressed by the recent Air Music Tech Black Friday plugin news are going to love this one!
Before I continue, anyone who likes free plugin offers with information like, you know, what it does, what it doesn’t do, etc., should check out Soundtoys PhaseMistress or Full Bucket Music’s Broken Mini.
Although, the situation isn’t entirely the same this time around.
I had no technical information to share on the Air Music Tech Black Friday announcement. I barely had enough information for the wildest speculators to fuel the plugin gossip mill.
I know that Air will release a plugin for Black Friday weekend, and some people (hopefully a lot) who entered their email addresses on the promo page will get the plugin for free.
That’s it. It could be the best plugin ever; we just won’t know till we know.
On the contrary, I’m delighted to say that I have ample information on the upcoming Waves Black Friday plugin.
Unfortunately, I’ve been sworn to secrecy until the official release, and I can’t tell you anything about it.
I may have said too much already. I can’t confirm or deny anything I’ve read, seen, or heard about the new plugin, and I’m not ready to be a plugin whistleblower.
So, I guess it is entirely the same this time around.
Here’s what I can share right now.
Waves will release a brand-new plugin on November 29, 2024. The release date marks the start of the Black Friday Weekend, and the plugin will only be free that weekend.
Waves launched the promotion landing page on November 6, 2024, and you can enter your email address now to register your interest in the free plugin.
Once you enter your email, you’ll be told that Waves will contact you on the release day with information on how to request the free plugin. Since the request window opens and closes with Black Friday weekend, and there are only 10,000 free copies, timing is everything; it’s first come, first served.
So, if you’re a fan of Waves, free plugins, or both, head to the promo page and enter your email now to ensure you are one of the first 10,000 requests.
As of right now, once the 10,000 free licenses are gone, that’s it. Good luck!

onUjam are currently offering their UFX Reverb plugin for free but only for ‘a very limited time’. I’ve already got this from an earlier promo but it’s great for some creative effects. Grab it while you can …

onYou could not pay me to use a Waves plugin, after that mess a few years ago with subscriptions. There are many great plug-in companies today, many free, so I have no need for Waves BS marketing tactics.
JWP
onYou did use them at one time! I’m still waiting for something to warrant the hassle. They are the only ones who offer a PWM compressor.

onI stopped using Waves plugins too. So you know, here is the reason:
I have to purchase TWO of the same plugin: One for my development pc in the studio, and a second for my live performance laptop. It’s a cash grab to make someone pay twice for a plugin. Thus as an example: I have 12 Waves plugins. That means I have to pay for 24, then renewals every year. A hard pass on Waves.
JWP
onWhy did you reply to me? 🧐
