Carp Audio has made its automatic reverb automation tool Reeferb available for free on macOS (VST3, AU) and Windows (VST3).
The product page doesn’t indicate whether it’s now permanently free, but the media suggests so.
Carp Audio states that the plugin, which was previously $29.95, is designed to allow you to create precise reverb automation quickly with its breezy workflow.
The plugin uses an algorithmic reverb engine to add the effect where it’s needed most, creating dynamic and immersive audio.
It achieves this by analyzing the signal and only adding reverb when there is space available.
There are additional settings on tap that allow you to shape the reverb automation to match your vision for the track.
Carp Audio has also included input bandpass shaping, so you can sculpt the source and adjust how Reeferb reacts to the signal.
The whole setup is designed to get you the results you need while saving time, and the devs have calibrated the system for optimal performance and swift workflow.
If that sounds like it’s your cup of tea, you can download the macOS and Windows install files straight from the product page.
I tried ordering the plugin via the cart, thinking it was necessary to get the activation keys mentioned on the product page.
However, all that Carp Audio did was email me an order summary with no useful information in it, so it seems that the install process has now been simplified down to just grabbing the install files straight off the page.
I suggest checking out the official YouTube demo of Reeferb, as the guitar and synth demonstrations make it clear exactly what the plugin does in practice, and how much time it could save.
There are also several user demos on YouTube that have been uploaded since the launch of the plugin in October 2023.
The applications that stand out for me are using Reeferb during tracking and demoing, so you aren’t getting bogged down in fine-tuning the sounds and can focus on getting the song right.
Then if you think some additional adjustments are needed, you could do the automation manually for the final release of the song.
In September 2024, Carp Audio dropped Reeferb IR ($49.95), which is an automatic convolution reverb automation tool.
Reeferb IR can be used to experiment with FX samples and use custom verbs with the IR convolution reverb module.
UPDATE: Multiple readers have reported their antivirus software flagged the plugin as a potential threat. We have removed the link until the developer resolves the issue.

onChrome wouldn’t let me access the site saying it is a Malware site. Maybe purchased an old domain known for malware? Or???

onSame here.

onSame with a different Browser for me. But I scanned the file and seems it’s OK. So, I downloaded and extracted it. But after installing the vst3 has not been recognized by my DAW which seems strange to me. Might need to point the directory. But it’s usually automatically synced in the background after installation of other software plugins.

onWould someone have to install the program for it to be a threat? Or just download it without installing it?
