Yesterday, developer Dart Spark released Plateau 2, a free plate reverb plugin with dual verb tanks.
The plugin is available for macOS (VST3, AU) and Windows (VST3).
Plateau 2’s two reverb instances (tanks) can interact via sends to create highly customizable and spacious verbs.

The tanks both have their own sets of controls, and each tank has a left and right chamber that feed into each other, allowing the creation of complex spatial interactions.
The Tank Select control at the top of the interface allows you to switch between the instances.
Plateau 2 has three screens of controls – Routing, Main, and Extras, offering 66 parameters across all of them.
So I think it’s safe to say there’s a whole lot of customization available under the hood.
Plateau 2 is an expanded sequel to the original Plateau plugin, which dropped quite recently in December 2024.
Dart Spark designed both Plateau verbs as plugin versions of Valley Audio’s open source VCV rack module Plateau plate reverb, which in turn was based on Jon Dattorro’s 1997 reverb design.
The Plateau verbs are intended to provide a lush, deep, and spacious sound, along with the ability to deeply customize the output.
To score yourself a copy of Plateau 2, enter an amount on the ‘name a fair price’ form on the Dart Spark’s Gumroad page and smash ‘I want this!’
You’ll then be forwarded to a cart where you’ll be asked to provide an email address. After knocking that out, you’ll be forwarded to a page where you can download the macOS and Windows zips with a single click, with the downloads coming in at a feathery 14.5 MB and 6.6 MB, respectively.
The macOS version needs to be unquarantined to work, and Dart Spark linked a tutorial on the downloads page on how to get that up and running.
I think it’s probably worth mentioning that the manual offers a warning stating that when run at certain settings, Plateau 2 can cause very loud feedback to the point of potentially damaging audio equipment or your ears.
These settings are locked behind the Enable Dangerous Settings control on the Extras page.
Dart Spark notes that they included these settings to give users full control, but suggested that they only be used either with a limiter or at very low system volumes.
