LittleStudios has released LSGate, a freeware trance gate effect in VST plugin format for Windows.

LSGate is a sequential step gate. It can be used to add rythmic patterns to your audio or a smooth tremelo as well.

LSGate is available for free download via LittleStudios Online (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to get the download link).

Step gate effects are commonly used to get the classic rhythmic sequences often heard in trance music. However, this one seems to have an optional smoothing control, so it can be used for getting softer effects. Btw, the dev mentioned on KVR that this release is a test version and that feedback is welcome.

Finally, here’s a trance gate video tutorial by How To Make Electronic Music:

Used A1 Triggergate but found out it generates noise when it’s supposed to be silent. Easily seen with flux stereotool for example. Also, it produces clicks even though I change the attack/decay settings.

Just tested LSGate and it does the job perfectly. Setting things up is a bit more work because you have to set the attack and decay for each step. For now this one will be the trancegate I use ;)

I’m having trouble finding more free trancegate plugins with attack/decay settings. Any recommendations?
