UJAM is giving newsletter subscribers a free copy of Rhodes V-Rack, but there are a few hoops to jump through.
The offer is available until July 19, so I’m posting this one literally minutes after getting the plugin so that BPB readers catch this on time.
I received an email from UJAM with the subject “Sign up to the Rhodes Newsletter for a free gift” around an hour before writing this. The thing is, I was already subscribed, so I am not yet sure if this works for brand-new UJAM subscribers as well. I will test it with another email address and update the article.
The UJAM email includes a button labeled “Get V-Rack for Free.” When I clicked it, the browser said that a code had been sent, and a second email arrived seconds later with the subject “Here’s your V-Rack code.” That email includes a unique Rhodes coupon code and instructions.
After that, I had to enter my name and email on the Rhodes page to unlock the freebie. The site is a bit slow, probably because many people are trying to claim the plugin, so definitely expect some waiting.
After around a minute, the page showed a success message and redirected me to the instructions.
This last part was also slow, and I got an error page the first time. I tried again, waited for checkout to load, entered the coupon code, and the cart eventually updated to zero.
So yes, it works, but it took me around 10 minutes total. With these sudden giveaways, the servers are usually hammered at first. If it feels too slow today, trying tomorrow might be less annoying.
As for the actual plugin, V-Rack is based on the Rhodes MK8 analog preamp and effects circuit. It includes seven stereo effect modules: Drive, resonant EQ/filtering, Vari-Pan, VCA Compressor, VCA Phaser, Bucket Brigade Chorus, and Bucket Brigade Delay.
It is mainly designed for keyboards, guitars, and vocals, but you can also use it for general mixing, with extended controls for individual modules.
Rhodes V-Rack supports macOS Big Sur through Sonoma and Windows 10/11 in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
