UJAM and Rhodes are offering UFX LOFI, UJAM’s retro degradation effect plugin, as a free download for newsletter subscribers.
This is a separate Rhodes/UJAM giveaway page, and the process was a bit smoother than the V-Rack offer I covered earlier today. I entered my email on the promo page, and about a minute later, I received an email from UJAM with the subject “Your Free UFX LoFi Has Arrived.”
The email has a button labeled “Get Your Freebie.” Clicking it takes you to the UJAM store and provides a coupon code for getting UFX LOFI for free at checkout.
The coupon may apply automatically for you, but it did not work for me on the first try. It did on the second, though, so if the cart does not immediately show zero, try opening the link again.

After that, checkout was pretty straightforward. Compared with the Rhodes V-Rack claim process, this one felt really fast, mainly because UJAM’s website is currently super speedy.
UFX LOFI is normally priced at $49, although UJAM is currently showing it discounted to around $19 during the summer sale. That said, this giveaway basically lets you add the license to your account for free.
The plugin includes around 20 retro algorithms covering different types of aging, distortion, and digital damage. The modes include Downsample, Bitcrush 1 and 2, Harsh Degradation, Aliasing, Wow, Flutter, Tape Saturation, Vinyl, Transformer, Dropouts, Stutter, Jitter, Random Pitch, Granular Glitch, Broken Speaker, Cheap Filter, Muffle, Cheap Compressor, and Slowed Down.
That covers a pretty wide range of lo-fi territory, from subtle worn-tape motion and vinyl-style color to broken-speaker crunch, bitcrushing, pitch instability (my favorite), and glitchy stuff.

Like other UJAM UFX plugins, UFX LOFI also includes a Filter section, a Finisher multi-effect section, and the Surprise randomization function. UJAM says the plugin has 40 Filter effects, 50 Finisher effects, and more than 150 categorized presets.
This one is mainly designed for adding that crunchy lo-fi vibe to drums, piano, synths, vocals, guitars, full mixes, and anything else that needs some retro wear or creative degradation. It should also pair nicely with electric piano sounds, which is probably why Rhodes is involved in the giveaway.
Also, don’t miss the UFX Delay giveaway, which is still active on UJAM’s website.
UFX LOFI runs through the UJAM App and supports 64-bit VST2, VST3, AAX, and AU2 formats on Windows 10/11 and macOS Catalina through macOS Tahoe.
