pATCHES has released MAZ Blanko Snap Pack, a free sample pack containing a set of 200 finger snap samples recorded by artist MAZ Blanko (Ableton Live pack also available).

The release is available in two different versions, a simple WAV pack containing 200 royalty free WAV files and an Ableton Live pack containing a custom drum rack. Both are available for direct free download from the product page linked below (no signup or registration required).

The WAV pack contains 200 finger snap samples sorted into two categories: dry and processed. The dry samples (128 samples in total) were recorded using 30 different microphones and are clearly labeled by sample type and microphone model used. It’s interesting to hear how much of an impact a microphone actually has in terms of recording quality and sound character, even when applied to something as short and simple as a finger snap. You’ll hear everything from iPhone recordings to sounds captured with hi-end condensers and lo-fi vintage dynamic microphones, so there’s plenty to choose from in terms of flavor and style.

Apart from the dry samples, the WAV pack also contains a set of 72 processed samples which have a variety of different effects added to them. The sounds included in these folder range from subtly modulated finger snap sounds to some rather excellent sounding granular sound effects.

The Ableton Live version contains a custom drum rack which comes with pre-loaded samples and a handy set of effects for easy sound processing (transpose, reverb, stereo width control, parametric EQ, and a transient processor). You’ll find detailed installation instructions and a set of screenshots on the product page linked below.

MAZ Blanko Snap Pack is available for free download via pATCHES (27.8 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 200 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format).
