PSP 2445 EMT takes inspiration from two early digital reverberators, the EMT 244 and EMT 245. Those hardware units brought plate-style reverb into the digital era, and PSP set out to recreate their sound while adding controls that were unavailable on the originals.
The plugin contains separate 244 and 245 reverb engines. You can process audio through either engine individually or run both simultaneously and blend their responses.
PSP based the reverb engines on original algorithms designed by Dr. Barry Blesser, who also consulted on the plugin, and the finished emulation received an official endorsement from EMT Studiotechnik GmbH.
The main controls are pretty straightforward, and nothing we haven’t already seen in similar reverbs. Pre-delay sets the gap before the reverb begins, while Reflections adjust the early reflections heard before the main tail. Reverb Time controls the overall decay.
But there are also some useful added features, like the separate low-frequency and high-frequency time switches, that provide quick tonal shaping.
The low-frequency switch can extend the bass decay, while the high-frequency option damps the top end. Wet/dry Mix and Output controls handle the final balance and level.
There is also an Open control that reveals a hidden panel of advanced parameters when more detailed adjustment is required. The design retains the hardware’s direct workflow while providing more flexibility inside a DAW.
PSP 2445 EMT can cover short ambience, vintage doubling-style spaces, and longer decays. The dual-engine design should be particularly useful when a standard plate or modern algorithmic reverb feels too familiar, and you want a more specific early-digital character.
The plugin uses iLok License Manager for authorization, but a physical iLok dongle is not required. A license provides three activations, which can be placed on computers or compatible iLok dongles.
PSP 2445 EMT supports VST, VST3, and AAX formats on 64-bit Windows 7 through Windows 11. It runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs from macOS 10.14 through macOS 15 in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats.
