In Session Audio is giving away the Fruit Shake percussion instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt and Kontakt Player as a free download until November 21st, 2018!
Fruit Shake is a sample-based shaker instrument packed into a fun-looking sound library for NI Kontakt. One important thing that needs to be pointed out right away is that the instrument does NOT require the commercial version of Kontakt to run properly. It is fully compatible with the freeware Kontakt Player edition of Native Instruments’ flagship sampler plugin. This is very rare for a freely downloadable Kontakt library since most third-party content for Kontakt requires the paid version of the software to work.

The mixer panel is the most complex section of the instrument, as it holds the master EQ settings, the tuning controls, and the built-in effects. The main panel is where you’ll find your standard volume and pan settings for each of the two available shaker slots. Speaking of the shakers, there are four different types of shaker instruments to choose from, each resembling a different type of fruit and providing a different tone.
The most interesting part of the instrument for me is the pattern editor. This is where the sampled shaker sounds are brought to life with the built-in 16-step sequencer. Each step can be muted or accented allowing for relatively complex rhythms to be created on the fly. There are two sequencer lanes running in parallel, both of which can be panned independently. The patterns are triggered via corresponding MIDI keyswitches, while the samples can also be played manually.
