Acustica Audio has announced that it’s offering the Celestial psychoacoustic mixing tool as a free download until February 14th, 2020.
Celestial is a two-plugin audio mixing suite. It consists of a Texture Mix Processor and a Psychoacoustic Bus Processor plugin. It seems that the plugin is loosely based on the Fusion stereo outboard processor by Solid State Logic. The software is compatible with all VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin hosts on PC and Mac.
Intended for use as a specialized mixing and mastering tool, Celestial can deliver a layer of analog texture and warmth to individual tracks or the master bus. The interface is organized into five main sections, with separate controls for the preamp, the two-band equalizer, high-pass and low-pass filters, compressor, and the stereo image processor. The plugin also features input and output gain controls with gain reduction and peak-volume metering. Both the Texture Mix Processor and the Psychoacoustic Bus Processor have identical-looking GUIs.

According to Acustica Audio, they realized that the plugin sounded better than some of their commercial products, but they’re still giving it away as a Christmas gift. It is undoubtedly the type of mastering plugin that can do wonders in the right hands. The only drawback is that, like most software from Acustica Audio, you will need a reasonably powerful machine to run it without performance hiccups. Most users will probably be limited to running a single instance of Celestial in their digital audio workstation.
Celestial is free to download only until February 14th, 2020. You will need to install the Aquarius software from Acustica Audio to download and activate your free copy of the plugin. Acustica Audio is also running a Christmas sale from December 18th until January 7th. Get a 50% OFF deal on Aqua plugins and up to 35% OFF third-party libraries for N4.
