Ghosthack Sounds offers the Coriolis Effect – Cinematic Dimensions sample pack (€19 value) as a free download.
Coriolis Effect includes 149 royalty-free WAV and MIDI files in total spread across five categories. The categories are Cinematic Hits, Construction Kits, Custom Effects, Foley, and Soundscapes.
Each category has some cool stuff, but the Construction Kits and Soundscapes are the core elements of the pack. They do all the heavy lifting while the remaining categories add accents, dynamics, and texture.
There are 5 Construction Kits, which include ready-to-go (or at least close to it) tracks with percussion, strings, synths, etc.
The pre-made tracks are very good, so I’m sure there would be scenarios when you just throw them straight in if you don’t need something unique. But, the best part is taking the stems and MIDI files of individual elements and building your own track. From the Construction Kits available, my favorite is Abolition.
When it comes to the Soundscapes, there are a couple in particular that I like; Forbidden and The Wave. Both have that real reflective/emotive cinematic quality, with Forbidden being a bit more dissonant. It’s perfect for that part of the movie where there’s a minor triumph/event but an uphill battle ahead.
Since the pack is tagged Cinematic Dimensions, it saves me saying it would be great for media composers like I usually do with similar packs. However, I’m sure it will have use for some producers beyond films and games, too.
Given the name Coriolis Effect, it’s not surprising that everything about this pack is pretty epic. I’m sure you could shape these sounds into something less dramatic, but I don’t think that’s the intention. It’s cinematic in the grandest sense; think fantasy, space, war, or anything else that makes for an epic film.
When you download the pack, you get a little bonus in the shape of a discount on your next purchase. Ghosthack also has some other promos running, like a buy 2 get 1 free sale. Their products include sample packs, Kontakt instruments, and presets for popular soft synths like NI Massive and Arturia Pigments.
If you watch movies and annoyingly analyze the music, as I do, you’ll like this kind of stuff.
