VSTBuzz offers a 71% OFF deal on Drumazon, 909 drum machine emulation by D16 Group.
The 808 is basically a meme at this point, but it’s pretty crazy how the device right after it – the 909 – has managed to be just as popular and recognizable, even by people who don’t produce music.
How did it come to this?
See also: BPB Cassette 909 (Free 909 Drum Sample Pack)Trap music is the most recent culprit, as it practically revitalized the classic drum machine sounds and made them, once again, a sonic staple for the new generation. As a side-effect, we can hear the same classic drum sounds in recent pop music, too.
Not that we’re complaining.
But the 909 is even more iconic in the realm of techno and turn-of-the-90s R&B. Bjork, Daft Punk, Madonna, Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Jean-Michel Jarre, The Chemical Brothers, you name it.
Nowadays producers are drowning in 909 samples, but what if you’re willing to go beyond and shoot for a properly great emulation?
Well, you’re in luck, because D16 group’s Drumazon plugin is widely considered the best “909” plugin out there, and it’s currently sitting at €29 on VSTBuzz’s website, a significant markdown from its original €100 price.
So, what makes this one better than just using samples?
Well, Drumazon is modeled after the original hardware to the highest possible degree. The team at d16 Group has tried to recreate each element down to the last bit. Furthermore, they put in the work to add even more features than were available on the original TR-909.
This means enhanced sound-shaping functionality, a sequencer, pattern chaining, a randomizer, advanced routing, and much more.
Regardless of whether you just want stock 909 sounds or want to experiment with how the drum machine would have traditionally been used, Drumazon is an excellent choice.
And if you’re someone who uses 909s often, having a dedicated plugin for it so you can dial in nuances might be worth the price of admission alone.
And at €29, it’s not much of an egregious price.

A sale is nice, but I wonder if d16 ever will give Drumazon an update. I don’t think it has been updated since 2015 ?
