HoRNeT HTS9 Overdrive Pedal Plugin Is Free (OFFER EXPIRED)

HoRNeT Plugins gives away the HoRNeT HTS9 (€6,99 value) classic overdrive pedal emulation plugin as a FREE download until October 21st, 2022.

HoRNeT HTS9 is a simple overdrive pedal that can transform a dull and lifeless guitar sound into something fuzzy and angry. The developer modeled this plugin after the classic Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer that was widely used in the 1980s across countless recordings – it is even colored in the famous lime green.

While the HTS9 might not be able to generate an exact replication of that analog pedal, it generates a fine overdriven sound that is definitely worth its price tag. Any producer without their own tube screamers should definitely get this gear whilst it’s still free. The offer ends October 21st.

HoRNeT HTS9 couldn’t be simpler in its design – it’s easy to understand and functional, meaning even people who have never worked with a plugin, or even a guitar pedal, will know how to get a good sound out of it.

There are three controls on the pedal. The Drive knob unsurprisingly makes your guitar growl when you dial it up. There is a Tone control that dials from dark to bright. The bright side will push harmonics into the mix, whilst turning the knob to dark will remove them, dulling the sound.

The Level knob works in the same way a ‘mix’ control would, bringing the level of the pedal to full will remove the original sound, whilst turning the control to the left will reduce the pedal’s output signal, which will keep more of the guitar’s true tone in the output chain.

HoRNeT Plugins have included additional controls to add more of an analog sound to this software – there is an on/off analog emulator, which will add a little dirt and wobble to the sound, as well as optional analog hiss and output compression. The addition of a dry/wet control is useful if you want to drive the level of the pedal to its maximum whilst having the option to bring in more of your guitar’s true tone.

This plugin has been cleverly designed to incorporate a subtle low pass filter that helps to keep your output signal clean. The HoRNeT HTS9 also includes a frequency-dependent diode clipper that only distorts the frequencies above 720Hz. This allows the top end of the guitar to distort whilst again keeping the bottom end clean.

Smart, clean, and efficient, this pedal is a fine addition to any producer’s plugin library. Download it for free – this offer ends October 21st.

As it so happens, you can currently get another Tube Screamer emulation for free. IK Multimedia is giving away the Overscream plugin for a limited time.

HoRNeT HTS9 is available in 64-bit VST/VST3/AU/AAX plugin formats for Windows and macOS.

UPDATE: The offer has expired.

It’s a very nice sounding distortion. Plenty of flexibility, especially with the Dry/Wet knob available. Not just for guitars for sure.

    • I was disappointed to see the same thing. Sometimes I’m too busy to get to these offers in time, but usually I can make it. This was an unusually brief offer though, so I missed it despite my best efforts to get to it in time.

It would be nice if there was a 24 hour ‘grace period’ after the posted date so it doesn’t end in disappointment due to different time zones and whatnot.
