Audio Plugin Deals offer the T-RackS EQ 81 ($99 value) preamp and equalizer plugin by IK Multimedia as a FREE download until February 14th, 2023.

T-RackS EQ 81 emulates the classic Neve 1081 hardware unit, known for its exceptional tonal character and presence that defined the “Neve Sound.” IK Multimedia’s plugin offers the same musical tone and analog warmth as the legendary hardware, with the added benefit of being easily accessible as a VST plugin in your digital audio workstation.

Typically priced at $99, T-RackS EQ 81 is available as a free product for a limited time via Audio Plugin Deals. The offer expires in two weeks.

EQ 81 was released around the same time as IK Multimedia’s popular EQ 73, and both equalizers received the highest praise from users. The two were described as some of the best “in the box” equalizers, so getting T-RackS EQ 81 for free is an absolute steal.

Taking a closer look at the GUI, the plugin offers the same basic functionality as the hardware 1081 unit. Users have the ability to switch between the Mic and Line preamp modes, adjust the In/Out gain, and fine-tune the channel processing mode (L/R and M/S).

The EQ section features four EQ bands (high shelf, low shelf, and two peak filters in the midrange) along with a pair of filters for cleaning up the low and high frequencies. IK Multimedia claims to have meticulously recreated the interaction between the EQ section and preamp circuit for a highly detailed replication of the Neve 1081 which is unparalleled in other plugins.

In use, T-RackS EQ 81 proves itself as a great-sounding equalizer with generous analog-style saturation provided by the preamp unit. It’s one of those rare EQ plugins that sound musical, even if you crank up a particular frequency band. As such, it’s perfect for use on instrument buses and the master channel, providing balance and adding polish to your project.

  2. FYI
When I entered the serial to IK Product Manager, the response was that the serial is registered to another user.

  3. This is the most painful install and authorise process I’ve ever encountered.
Managed to finally start the actual product download after 20 minutes mucking about, its 2GB!
I quit and rue the day i wasted part of my life on ik multimedia

    • Totally agree.

Install is a joke. 2gb file download Just registering for an account is bad enough – who asks for a user name with a minimum of 8 characters including special character?! whats that about?

Had to switch off firewall, install activation software , close/re-open activation software because it just hangs. Feels like it went out of date 20 years ago.

Anyway, you dont just download the 1 plugin, oh no, you end up with a folder of 55 plugins.
Theres no info about this during install or option to not install the other plugins which as far as I can see are all inactive. Doesnt explain if they are a time demo or what the deal is .

Hoping all the development money has been spent on the plugin.

Glad this a free because i spent about £50 worth of time installing it.

  4. Well, I’ve never had any problems with authorizing IK Multimedia plugins but I’ve heard a lot of people complaining. I, too, don’t like the fact that one have to install all the plugins to be able to use a few. However, it’s safe to delete all the unlicensed plugins from the plugin folder and that’s what I do. Anyways, I already have this plugin and have been using it a lot. It’s great on drums and also on anything else, really. Effects and guitar amp modeling are IK Multimedia’s strong points (their EQP-1A lives on my 2 buss). I also like their 1073 but haven’t bought it because it’s only available in MAX Collection and as a single it’s really too expensive. Besides, for a 1073 emulation I already have SKnote Marconi1 which is a great plugin and covers all my needs. The fact is that I’ve never heard a really good free Neve or Pultec emulation and there’s also not too many great commercial ones, let alone affordable ones. So, are those vintage emulations necessary? Of course not. That’s a matter of personal preference. BTW, Kiive Audio Warmy EP1A Tube EQ is a great free plug. It’s a Pultec style eq, but it’s not a Pultec emulation (it’s an emulation of the EQP-WA Program Tube Equalizer) and the curves are quite different but it sounds really great. They also have a free distressor emulation (nuke mode only, but sometimes that’s all you need). So, check them out if you haven’t.
