The SoliderSound S Doubler was released on Saturday, and the Windows and Mac plugin is available to download for free.

The S Doubler is designed to “add depth, width, and a true sonic dimension” to your vocal and instrument tracks.

SoliderSound states that the plugin “replicates the psycho-acoustic effects of sound proximity to create a true sense of dimension in your mix”.

The interface allows you to place the four doubling voices on a virtual sound stage and craft the stereo image of your music.

The S Doubler models a range of physical effects to simulate a realistic sense of depth.

Use cases for the S Doubler include adding thickness and width to individual tracks or mixes, adding richness and presence to vocals, and making instrumental parts sound more expansive.

The plugin can also create stereo signals from mono sound sources and simulate the sound of chorus and ensemble effects.

The range of the doubler runs from subtle enhancements to bold stereo effects.

If you want to hear for yourself, SoliderSound has provided 15 audio demos on the product page, which allow you to A/B the plugin vs a dry signal.

The demos cover male and female vocals in various styles and instrumental melody, chords and bass parts.

By A/Bing the parts, you can hear that the S Doubler is great at adding liveliness to a part, as it can take a somewhat flat-sounding signal and make it really jump out of the speakers at you.

Now, let’s look at the parameters. The S Doubler’s Spread controls the stereo width of the doubling effect, with higher values broadening the pan and variation between the voices.

Distance controls the perceived proximity between the doubler voices, while Tone controls a tilt EQ, which can shape the character of the voices.

There is also a Frequency Range parameter for limiting the doubling effect to a desired range and a Level parameter for adjusting the volume of the doubler voices without altering the level of the original signal.

SoliderSound has provided a scalable user interface for the S Doubler, which covers a range of 80% to 150%.

The S Doubler is compatible with Windows 7 and newer, as well as macOS High Sierra 10.13 and newer.

The plugin is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and covers the following plugin formats: VST, VST3, AU, and AAX.
