Audiocube has launched a new standalone audio app (for Windows and macOS) featuring cutting-edge 3D audio tools. Audiocube offers the app for just £60 (usually £100) for a limited time as a special introductory offer.
This standalone app has been designed to enhance and simplify the creation of immersive audio experiences in a 3D audio workstation.
In a fundamental sense, it’s like a virtual sonic playground where you can position audio devices freely. Audio devices are samplers, emitters, tickers, and sound walls.
Samplers allow you to place a sound wherever you like and provide tools to edit the sample in various ways: truncate, etc.
Emitters bounce and trigger a sound each time they hit something. You can adjust how they move, the notes played, and the number of lives they have. And after the set number of collisions, emitters will delete themselves.
Tickers are used for sequencing and triggering other devices.
The 3D workspace provides real-time acoustic simulation with visual representation. Visualizing the acoustic simulation allows you to see precisely how the soundwaves behave.
The acoustic simulation shows reflections, occlusions, and HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function) binauralization. Activating the Binauralize function provides a more realistic simulation of how our head processes acoustic energy.
Audiocube’s new 3D audio software provides more than a wide open space. You can manipulate/create reflections and occlusions by adding sound walls that alter the propagation of the sound waves.
These audio devices can act like a wall or barrier for the sound to bounce off. You can arrange things so that you only hear reflections as the sound bounces back, leading to a world of creative possibilities.
Spatial automation is one of the most interesting aspects of Audiocube’s app. As sound designers, we often want sounds to evolve over time, and this 3D environment provides new ways to add dynamic movement to any sound.
As well as a suite of 3D audio tools, the app features a flexible mixer with effects and mastering tools.
Once you’ve finished your creation, you can export it as a high-fidelity WAV file and drop it straight into your DAW of choice.
