Sonora Cinematic released Panorama Hybrid, which is a post-rock guitar Kontakt Player instrument that you can get for free with the purchase of any eligible Sonora Cinematic NKS product ($45 minimum).
Panorama Hybrid runs on the free Kontakt Player 8.1+. Sonora Cinematic does not specify whether the instrument runs on the paid version of Kontakt or not.
Sonora Cinematic has helpfully provided a list of eligible products that allow you to get a free copy of the Panorama Hybrid.
The cheapest eligible purchases are the Mezza Coda baby grand and Verticale upright piano, both currently on sale for $45, down from a list price of $64.
Once you add an eligible purchase to your cart on the Sonora Cinematic website, then Panorama Hybrid automatically gets added as well.
The first time I attempted this with Verticale, the cart glitched and didn’t add the Panorama Hybrid. However, when I tried it again on a different browser, it worked.
Mezza Coda, meanwhile, worked the first time, and I added the Panorama Hybrid to the cart without any issues.
Panorama Hybrid is made to deliver cinematic soundscapes and uses the Aria engine like its older brother, Panorama Guitars ($61, reduced from $77).
Both instruments are designed for post-rock guitar sounds, but Panorama Hybrid is made to deliver a darker and richer set of sounds, which are perfect for ambient, experimental, and cinematic sounds.
Panorama Guitars, meanwhile, is made for rock, pop, and lo-fi sounds. Panorama Hybrid is a completely new release, and there are no reused sounds present from Panorama Guitars.
If you’d like to hear what all that sounds like in practice, Sonora Cinematic has produced a 25-minute introductory YouTube video for Panorama Hybrid, and there’s also a SoundCloud player embedded on the product page with 10 audio demos.
Panorama Hybrid indeed produces very ethereal and cinematic sounds, and even in the sections with loud drums, the guitar sounds showcased in the demos stay in the territory of ambient music.
Despite the intention behind the release, to my ears, there’s not much difference between Panorama Hybrid and Panorama Guitars, as the latter was already very much focused on ambient sounds.
So, if you have Panorama Guitars and want an expanded sound set, then Panorama Hybrid will be right up your alley.
Or if you’re new to Sonora Cinematic, then with the current deal, Panorama Hybrid is presently the cheapest way to get an Aria engine guitar instrument from the developer.
