Voice Align is a new web-based alternative to advanced vocal alignment plugins, currently in the early-access phase. The plugin version is coming soon.
Vocal alignment is another one of those tasks that often gets little attention but makes a big difference.
Industry favorites like VocAlign 6 by Synchro Arts do a fantastic job, but with the Standard edition costing $149 and the Pro version costing $349, it doesn’t come cheap
. By most accounts, either version still represents good value for money because it saves users so much time, but a few hundred dollars on a single plugin is still a big spend.
Voice Align offers a way to get your vocal tracks in perfect sync quickly and easily without the cost.
Right now, Voice Align is in its early access phase; it’s free and web-based. The developer has a plugin version coming soon, but there’s no indication of what it might cost (or not).
Voice Align uses advanced algorithms to sync timing, phrasing, and pitch in multiple vocal recordings. It does so by matching your dub vocals to a single reference vocal.
You can upload up to ten dub vocals with a max length of three minutes.
Subtle sync issues with timing and phrasing don’t always appear disastrous immediately; in live performance, they can even sound charmingly human. But, in any professional recording, the timing and phrasing of doubled vocals should be perfectly matched (and pitch, of course).
Harmonies are sometimes more flexible because phrasing might vary slightly, but you still want to sync the exact moment each note should gel for maximum impact.
DAWs often offer built-in alignment tools, but getting the best results is tedious for some.
If you’re sick of manually aligning multiple vocals and don’t have something like VocAlign 6 or even Melodyne, try Voice Align to tighten up your vocal layers.
If you are working on some aggressive rock or screaming vocals, you should also check out the free Vocal Menace plugin by Chris Liepe.
Vocal stacking sounds amazing when it’s done right, and diverse artists from Queen and the Bee Gees to Radiohead and Lana Del Ray have all showcased it masterfully.

onSeeing that Waves just announced their Vocal Aligning VST and seeing this just now knowing a plugin version is one the way is such a blessing, I did not want to spend $129 on a Waves plugin to then pay more to update it lmaoo
