Audio Plugin Deals offers the Bionic Plucks & Mallets Lite ($30 value) sound library by Riot Audio as a free download until February 4th, 2021.
Bionic Plucks & Mallets Lite is a percussion sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt. It requires the full version of Kontakt and will only work for fifteen minutes in the free Kontakt Player plugin. Learn more about this limitation in our article about the Kontakt Player demo mode.
See also: Free Kontakt Player LibrariesThe instrument combines a diverse collection of sampled sources to create complex percussive sounds. According to Riot Audio, the library features a special “transient splicing engine” that lets the user layer various transients with an assortment of tail samples to craft exciting new percussion instruments.
The resulting sound consists of four sample layers: two transients and two tail samples. There’s an abundance of sample sources to choose from, ranging from bells and mallets to music boxes, bass samples, and various electronic sounds.
The raw layered samples are subject to further sonic shaping with a plethora of sound design tools, courtesy of NI Kontakt. Bionic Plucks & Mallets Lite lets you use vibrato, delays, reverbs, saturation, filtering, and EQ to develop that perfect layered percussion sound.
Here’s how Riot Audio describes the Bionic Plucks & Mallets Lite sample library:
“Introducing our next FREE offer from Riot Audio – Bionic Plucks & Mallets (LITE) – a unique “transient splicing engine” which allows you to combine different transients (the attack of the sound) with different tails to create your own unique sounds. Bionic is designed to give detailed control over a range of parameters needed to mix and match several different initial transients to another set of tails/longer sounds.”
Bionic Plucks & Mallets Lite is typically priced at $30, but you can get it for free via Audio Plugin Deals for a limited time only. The free download offer expires on February 4th.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the other APD offers. They are running a 66% OFF deal on Sugar Bytes Guitarist, and a 71% OFF offer on KH-COMP1 by Black Rooster Audio.

onIt requires Kontakt 6 and will work with Kontakt Player in demo mode

onOuch, didn’t realize this! Means can’t use this for the time being >.<
Tomislav Zlatic
onIt’s right there in the second paragraph! :D
Darryl Lim
onSorry, forgot to clarify, was talking about when i redeemed it earlier before this article went live, after seeing it in the comments of the previous Surge 1.8.0 article (where you mentioned you were working on this article)! XD
Thanks again for your constant hard work by the way! ^.^

onEeeeks, wish i could edit my previous comments. (But posting more comments does bring more traffic to this site, does it? If so then still a positive haha.)
Tomislav Zlatic
onHey, no worries! :) There’s no correlation between comments and traffic, but I don’t mind more comments at all. So, bring it on!
Tomislav Zlatic
onYeah, it works for fifteen minutes only in Kontakt Player. Maybe I should put this type of info closer to the end of the article so that it’s more visible? Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

oni think you can expect that people read the article properly, i would not worry about putting it more towards the end for the ones who dont want to read the whole thing…
you are doing a lot already for the community with this blog, thanks for that.

onThanks for the kind words! Either way, it’s all good, I’d really like to know if there are any ways to improve the article format. I usually pay the most attention to the first few paragraphs when reading an article, but perhaps most people gravitate towards the end.

onFor me personally, i’ve kind of gotten used to the way your articles have been all these years. 1st paragraph usually contains a summarized plugin intro together with useful redemption status (free forever or time-limited). 2nd paragraph goes more in-depth on plugin. Then redemption instructions/details right at the end. It’s now quite comfy for me like this haha.
Tomislav Zlatic
onThat’s great to hear! I’m also quite fond of the format and it comes naturally to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and thanks for reading BPB! :)

onto me, the articles are working very well. there is no redundant information, you tell about the way the plugins work in a comprehensive way. comparisons to other plugins and your own opinion, the available formats, the price, i think its all there.
really the only thing i could imagine as improvement would be a proper picture of the interface of every single plugin, but i dont know if that would be a lot more effort to implement. most of the times its there anyway, but not always, maybe there are particular reasons for that…

onThat’s lovely to hear, thank you! As for the screenshots, I try to include one whenever possible. However, sometimes I’m not even posting from my computer (there were a few occasions when I wrote and published articles on my phone, usually when I’m out and about and I stumble upon a hot new freebie or an epic deal). In those situations, I have to go with publishing the article without including a high-resolution screenshot. But I’ll definitely keep this in mind in the future!

onFor me the main issue to note is that it requires Kontakt 6. I have got Kontakt 5, haven’t got round to update to Kontakt 6 yet. Most free libaries I encounter on the net works with Kontakt 5.
Klaus
onwith this instrument , you can only play with one octave …. wonder why they call it a full instrument for free . if you try to play a note outside this one octave , a pop-up reminds you to buy the full version ….so for me it is just a demo !!! and a shame for those , who offer these as a fully free version !!!
rex roll
onExactally, the price of $30 is a joke, it’s waste of time to have it.
Tomislav Zlatic
onYeah, one octave only is quite a limitation.
Daahood
onOne way to avoid the one octave limitation is to bybass the script in the instrument “script editor” tab.

onWheres the download link. thanks
Lamont
onOkay, I ‘purchased’ this from Audio Plugin Deals. I then received an email from APD telling me I have to sign up to a Riot Audio mailing list in order to receive the download link, which I do. But the link for the library never arrives (yes, checked the spam folder).
Then I read here that the library is restricted to one octave with purchase prompts, which makes me wonder why I’m even bothering. There’s no way I’d ever use this thing, even if I had the download link.
