Pulseha Releases Free Toy Upright Piano For Kontakt

Pulseha has released Free Toy Upright Piano, a freely downloadable toy piano sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt (full version required).

Free Toy Upright Piano is a simple but well-made toy piano sample library with a nicely designed custom user interface for NI Kontakt. The sound of the sampled toy piano instrument is quite metallic in character, very similar to a xylophone. Although not a substitute for a real upright piano by any means, toy instruments like this one can work wonders for achieving a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere either when played solo or layered on top of other instruments.

The user interface features a tone section with three knobs (twinkle, low, and high), a simple AD envelope for adjusting the attack and decay times, a width control, and a volume control for the release noise samples. Also included is a reverb/delay module offering a choice between eleven different FX types. The sampled instrument sounds very realistic when the release sample noise is reduced a bit and with a small amount of room reverb applied. The beauty of it, though, is the ability to transform the patch into a lush, almost pad-like instrument with a few envelope adjustments and some plate reverb added on top. The tone controls can also be used to warm up the sound or to highlight the instrument’s metallic character.

The provided NKI patch will only work for 15 minutes in the free Kontakt Player. The full version of NI Kontakt is required to play the instrument without a time limit. Individual samples in WAV format aren’t included in the pack. Free Toy Upright Piano can be downloaded directly from the product page linked below, no registration required. The page also hosts an interesting sample-based monophonic subtractive synthesizer for NI Kontakt called Syntaktion Basic.

Free Toy Upright Piano is available for free download via Pulseha (9.07 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1 instrument patch in NKI format for NI Kontakt).
