FluffyAudio has released My Log Drum, a free Kontakt library featuring the sounds of a log drum percussion instrument (aka a slit drum).
The Log Drum, also called Slit Drum, is an idiophone usually carved in wood or constructed in a resonant wooden box. On the surface there are some wooden tongues that can be struct to play a simple melody.
My Log Drum is available for free download via FluffyAudio (55.2MB download size, contains 2 instruments in NKI format).
The sounds were captured from an old slit drum with several detuned notes and a small crack on one of its tongues, adding to the overall vintage character of the instrument. There a 258 samples in total (not available in WAV format, though), with up to 7 velocity layers and 3 round robin layers.
My Log Drum features a very cool custom Kontakt GUI, with EQ and reverb controls. The Kontakt instrument comes with custom reverb IRs.
