Chokehold has released Alexis D-Four, a freeware drum instrument for Windows and Mac which is based on Alesis D4 samples.
I’ve been seriously procrastinating this project months at a time because of the huge amount of sample cutting and file renaming and instrument designing involved, plus all the other dry and pretty boring repetitive work…
Alexis D-Four is available for free download via Chokehold’s website (342MB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & Mac).
To install the instrument, you will need to download the sound bank and the appropriate version of the plugin separately. Once you’ve got those two, simply follow the included instructions.
I love the sound of these old 90s drum models, and I even own a D4 which I wanted to sample eventually. Thankfully, Chokehold has done the job exceptionally well and I guess it’s time to sell the thing. You can find more info about Alesis D4 at Vintage Synth.
The only drawback of Alexis D-Four is that it can only load one sample per plugin instance, but this is not such a big deal at all.

onwow great work, i love these kind of libraries.

but i would prefer to have them in wav ;) thats all

onIt is amazing library but as has been already said it takes too much cpu (I work in renoise, has some weak AMD 2ghz, 2cores, it takes about 20%cpu per instance…).
I suppose the only solution is sample this whole plugin, but it will take a lot of time so
wav pack would be much prefered (dont have kontakt). But at any means thank you!

onYes looks like that, i started to resample them through a external mixer & tube.
