Free Mellotron Instrument By UVI Sounds & Software! (iLok Required)

UVI Sounds & Software has released Mello, a free (although it requires a Facebook account and an iLok) high quality mellotron sample library for UVI Workstation or MOTU MachFive 3.

With Mello we’ve aimed to deliver a complete and authentic recreation of the Mellotron. Dozens of original tapes were multi-sampled on 3 different machines in order to give you the best representation of each of the 28 available sounds.

Mello is available for free download via UVI Sounds & Software (1.7 GB download size, compatible with UVI Workstation and MOTU MachFive 3).

The main problem is that this instrument isn’t exactly free. It requires an iLok and you’ll also need to be logged in to your Facebook account in order to download it. There is a way to get the iLok for free via UVI, however it still requires you to purchase a product from them.

The instrument itself is a wet dream for a Mellotron fan such as me. All 28 available tapes have been sampled in high quality, using 3 different Mellotrons. All 2000 individual audio samples have been packed into a great looking and highly functional interface, giving you full control over the sound.
