ABYZOR has released a free local AI module for its Genesis MIDI generator plugin for macOS and Windows.
We featured Genesis when it launched in June. It generates melodies, basslines, chord progressions, and arpeggios that you can edit and drag into your DAW.
The new ABYZOR AI Module is not a replacement for the existing generator. It is more of an optional engine that works alongside Genesis v2.2.0, while the original procedural MIDI system remains available without it.
Once installed, the module can transform a Genesis pattern into multiple new versions. Transform mode retains the general character of the original, Pitch Remix changes its notes while preserving the rhythm, and Keep Groove produces new material based on the existing groove.
You can choose to process an entire pattern or select specific bars, which lets you use it for developing an idea, and the results remain editable MIDI, so you can correct strange notes or keep the parts you like.
The engine runs locally on your CPU or GPU and can work offline after installation. There are no generation credits, API keys, or subscription fees, and ABYZOR says the module will remain free.
Under the hood, the current beta uses a MIDI-GPT transform pipeline. MIDI-GPT is a symbolic music model designed for bar-level infilling and controlled MIDI generation, not for finished audio.
Getting everything running requires two downloads if you do not already have Genesis. The Genesis download form has an optional email field that you can skip, while the separate AI Module installer is approximately 93 MB for Windows and 43 MB for macOS.
The installer then downloads the local engine from Hugging Face. ABYZOR’s documentation lists engine packages ranging from roughly 400 MB to 3 GB, so the complete installation is considerably larger than the initial installer suggests.
This is still a public beta, and ABYZOR warns that its behavior and compatibility may change. The Windows version supports 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. The AI Module for macOS currently requires Apple Silicon and is unsigned, so macOS may block it until you select “Open Anyway” in Privacy & Security.
Genesis is available in VST3 format for Windows and VST3/AU formats for macOS. The AI Module is a separate local engine, not a plugin format.
