echo | collective has released The Free Collection, a set of unusual and unique free sample libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The new echo|collective free collection is a suite of 4 soundminer metadata tagged sound effects libraries, each with a Kontakt instrument.

The Free Collection is available for free download via echo | collective (247 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 4 sample libraries, 24-bit WAV format, NKI mappings for NI Kontakt).

I’m impressed with the quality and uniqueness of the sample packs provided in this freebie collection. There are four different sample libraries included in the pack and all four will definitely find their place on my hard drive.

My favorite part of the pack is Camera-Free, which features a set of samples created by capturing the sounds of the Canon EOS 7D digital camera. It is a neat little collection of clicks and swooshes, which can be used to build unusual percussive tracks as well as for sound design and movie editing.

The Free Collection also features Malfunktion-FreeMicro Magnetic-Free, and Shrieking Dulcimer-Free. They all sound great and contain samples from virtual synthesizers, magnetic objects, and an old dulcimer. The dulcimer samples were created by Evan Arnett and Justin Shelton, who have used this old instrument to create some weird and eerie sounds.

If you like these sounds, take a look at the commercial products released by echo | collective. You’ll find loads of cool and high quality sounds, for an affordable price.
