MT Power Drum Kit 2 is a high quality acoustic drum kit in VST/AU plugin formats for Windows and Mac OS X. Originally released as a commercial plugin, the instrument is now available for free download on the developer’s website.
The product was priced at $39 when it was officially released back in January 2012. Without much hype (or none at all to be precise) this great virtual acoustic drum kit has been re-released as freeware by Manda Audio. There isn’t any additional info on the developer’s website, except for the fact that the full version of the product can now be downloaded and activated for free. It is unclear whether the product is fully discontinued, or perhaps the developer is working on a new commercial version.

MT Power Drum Kit 2 is a standard pop/rock acoustic drum module, featuring a set of great sounding drum samples. The drum kit does sound very good, however you don’t get to choose between different drum elements. On the other hand, from what I’ve heard so far during my quick test, the drum sounds included in MT Power Drum Kit 2 should fit nicely into most rock, hard rock and pop mixes.
On top of that, the instrument includes a superb collection of drum grooves and fills in MIDI format. These can be used in the built-in groove sequencer, or simply added to your host application’s sequencer via drag & drop. The drum grooves alone are definitely worth the download, especially if you don’t really enjoy programming acoustic drum parts manually.
Finally, MT Power Drum Kit 2 supports multiple outputs, which is great if you want to process the drum samples using your favorite 3rd party effects. The GUI is nice and clean and the plugin also includes a neat mixer window with a simple compressor on each channel. Although it’s just a simple one-knob compressor, it works well for changing the character of the included drum hits on the fly.
To grab your free copy of MT Power Drum Kit 2, simply download the installer on the product page linked below and follow the provided activation instructions. You’ll need to submit a code which will be displayed on your screen when you run the plugin for the first time.

That is incredible that it is free !!
I don’t understand – if it is a free so what is purpose to make complications with activate online…?? Serial number and voila….
Bedroom Producers Blogon
I guess that it’s because the product used to be commercial and had to be activated online. They are now opening the online registration for everyone, but they didn’t change the actual software (in other words, they’d have to invest some development time just to make an improvement for the free version).
The problem is that when you install a new pc…. you’ll have to reactivate, and if the website is down… you lose…
And it happens: I had bought MixControl pro from TeamDnr, and everything has disappeared… This is why I hate online activations and usually search for, well, err… alternate methods :)
I am the developer of the plugin. Just wanted to let you guys know that in the latest version the activation screen can be skipped with a “skip” button in the bottom right corner. Registration is entirely optional. So even IF our website went down some day, the plugin would still be useable.
Btw, thank you BedroomProducersBlog and Tomislav for this article !
I also use Senhisser’s Drumm’ica that is free. It is a great Kontakt instrument.
Required online connections or online activations are a reason for me to save my money for other plugins or stuff.
Thanks alot for this! Works great.
I have downloaded this on one comp, but will be using it on another comp which has my recording software Studio One. How can I do this as I have no internet connection on the main comp to avoid virus etc
My antivirus (Bitdefender) blocks this page : http://www.powerdrumkit.com/support.htm
I can’t download the product… :(
I could not, for the love of God, manage to install it. I downloaded both the AU and the VST on mac (mavericks) but only components in Library appear, no application, so no interface like that in the print screen in the article, so no activation window, no nothing… am I missing something?
Also both GarageBand (10 and 6) fail to see the installed AU or VST. It’s like they intalled but the only thing these files do is occupy space. Any help would be highly appreciated, thank you!
