Dream Audio Tools has released Microharp, a free triangular harp sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt and any instrument capable of loading WAV samples.
Does your production lack the gentle tones of a harp? If that’s the case and you own the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt, head to Dream Audio Tools and grab Microharp. Microharp is a free instrument library which samples a Celtic harp, a triangular harp traditional to Britain, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Each articulation has four Round Robin variations per sample, meaning that four different notes will be played with each successive pluck of the strings, resulting in a more natural sounding performance. Both articulations are available separately or in the form of a mixed patch where they are layered and play simultaneously. That’s the beauty of sampling!
Microharp’s user interface is extremely simple. The only controls available are the Reverb and Delay knobs which control the amount of the effect on the output. Of course, since everything happens in Kontakt, you can freely tweak the back-end and modify the instrument in-depth, as you see fit.
While Microharp is itself a free download, it requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2.4 or higher to run. The free Kontakt Player by NI won’t cut it for this instrument. Also, downloading Microharp requires you to complete the checkout process with a valid email address and optionally subscribes you to the developer’s discrete newsletter, out of which you can easily opt out if you want to.
However, the good news is that the download pack also contains the WAV samples which were used for the Kontakt patch. This means that you can use these sounds in pretty much any sampler instrument on the market, but you’ll have to create your own mappings.
Microharp is available for free download via Dream Audio Tools (189 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 236 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format, 2 reverb impulse responses, 1 instrument patch in NKI format for NI Kontakt).
