Sonniss has released GDC2018 Audio Bundle, a freely downloadable collection containing over 30 GB of royalty-free sound effects for use in video games, films, and interactive projects.

For the fourth year in a row, Sonniss is releasing a huge collection of free sound effects in celebration of the Game Developers Conference. The 2018 edition of their audio bundle is the biggest one so far, containing over 30 GB worth of audio material for a total of 985 individual files. For comparison, the first edition of the bundle contained 10 GB of data and the last year’s entry amounted to 20 GB worth of SFX.

You may be wondering if there’s a catch within the license terms, preventing you from using these samples in commercial recordings, but there’s no need to worry. The sounds are provided royalty-free and completely free of charge, with very clear licensing terms available on the download page linked below. No attribution is required and you can use the provided files in as menu projects as you like.

The included sounds were handpicked from various commercial SFX libraries which are available in the Sonniss store. The contents are provided in full quality (as in the corresponding commercial release) and with detailed descriptions to help you find the desired type of effect. As for the included sound effects, they cover a variety of SFX types ranging from sci-fi swooshes and noises to field recordings, human noises, weapon sounds, drones, impacts, and so on.

Since downloading such a huge sound pack can be troublesome for users with slower connections, Sonniss have provided three direct download mirrors and an official torrent. Different downloads may perform differently depending on your ISP and location, but chances are that the torrent will be the fastest download option.

GDC2018 Audio Bundle is available for free download via Sonniss (31.48 GB download size, ZIP archive, contains 985 sound effects in 24-bit WAV format).
