Sample Fuel has released WAVE-LITE, a fully featured wavetable synthesizer expansion for the free HALion Sonic SE 3 virtual instrument by Steinberg.
WAVE-LITE is a lightweight but fully functional version of the WAVE ($49.99) wavetable synthesizer by Sample Fuel. It comes with the same core feature set as its big brother but lacks the second wavetable oscillator and includes only 55 program presets (as opposed to over 1,500 presets in the full version). Apart from these limitations, WAVE-LITE is a completely working piece of software without any demo or trial constraints.
The synthesis engine consists of one wavetable oscillator and one noise oscillator, paired up with a set of eighteen built-in effects. The user can load up to 61 effects simultaneously using the AUX channels and assign up to eight Quick Control knobs for accessing the most important synth engine parameters. The presets can be loaded in up to sixteen slots for multi-timbral performance or layered playback. As for the modulation capabilities, WAVE-LITE comes with multiple envelopes and LFOs which can be assigned to different parameters in the modulation editor.
WAVE-LITE requires the freeware HALion Sonic SE 3 virtual instrument to be installed on your computer. We’ve already covered a couple of freely downloadable expansions for HALion Sonic SE 3, including the CRE8 granular synthesizer by Sample Fuel and the Röhrich 12AX7 virtual analog synthesizer by Beat Magazine. You can download HALion Sonic SE 3 completely free of charge from Steinberg’s website and activate it using their software license manager (the USB dongle is not required).
To download your free copy of WAVE-LITE, complete the checkout process on the product page linked below. A valid email address is required. The software is compatible with all VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin host applications on PC and Mac.
