We covered Silkbrush Reverb in detail when it launched earlier this month. It combines a modulated hall-style reverb with built-in ducking, helping vocals and lead instruments sound spacious without letting the reverb cloud the original performance.
Instead of adding a separate compressor and sidechain route, you can control the effect directly from the plugin. Silkbrush reduces the signal entering its reverb tank while the source is active, then lets the tail swell into the available space.
Its Vocal Pocket section focuses the ducking on a chosen frequency range, while Side Duck lets you adjust how strongly the stereo sides react. The three-tank design processes the Mid and Side signals separately before feeding them into a shorter Glue tank.
You also get controls for size, decay, pre-delay, damping, width, and wet level. Weight changes the low-frequency decay independently, Liquid adds a more modulated hardware-inspired character, and Soft Attack keeps sharp transients out of the reverb send.
Silkbrush Reverb includes 65 searchable presets with tags and favorites. It runs as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin and as a standalone application, with native support for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Windows users need a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11.
Golden DSP previously released Shatter Clip, a free visual clipper with hard, soft, and dual-band analog-style modes.
