Sonixinema Releases FREE Upright Bass For Kontakt Player

21

Sonixinema releases Contemporary Bass: Freebie, a free Kontakt library featuring the sounds of an upright bass.

This release is the last in the Contemporary Soloist freebie series, and what a great series it is!

When discussing previous releases, I’ve had a lot of positive things to say about them, but I think this one might be the most interesting yet.

When I say that this one could be the most interesting yet, it’s not so much that I’d put it head-to-head with the others and prefer this one; it’s more because a great bass sound is harder to come by than great strings.

The freebie comes with one full patch (Gypsy Pizzicato) and two preset snapshots (Distant and Spaced).

There’s something about the two-feel, Gypsy Jazz, upright bass sound that just gets you hooked. It’s the same formula over and over, for the most part; the root and fifth, with some melodic content in transitions. But it sounds incredible, and thanks to this freebie, I’ll probably binge on Gypsy Jazz for around two weeks now. As soon as I read the patch name, I got out some Django (Reinhardt) in Paris recordings.

Any gypsy Jazz fans who haven’t yet seen it, you should check out the movie Sweet and Lowdown; it’s fantastic.

Contemporary Bass: Freebie works with the free Kontakt player like the previous Contemporary Soloist freebies.

Throughout the Contemporary Soloist series and other products, we’ve seen that Sonixinema takes pride in attention to detail. The developer clearly likes to choose players, instruments, locations, and articulations carefully when sampling.

This time, the focus is on a 19th-century bass and some unique articulations. Of course, the freebie only provides a small taste of the full library.

If you want to upgrade to the full version and get access to unique articulations and more, you can get it for £69 right now; that’s a 30% discount on the regular price (£99).

Cinematic freebies are always among my personal favorites, and I consider Sonixinema’s offerings to be some of the best.

If you haven’t tried the others yet, grab the Contemporary Viola, Violin, and Cello freebies, too.

Excellent work, Sonixinema!

Nope, those freebies require full Kontakt.

    • Yep, I learned that the hard way. Ordered both just now before realizing that the free versions don’t work with Kontakt Player. Bummer, dude.

I’m sorry to hear that! The website states that it is compatible with Kontakt Player. :( What happens if you load it in Kontakt? I’ll download it today and test it on my end. Sorry for the confusion!

        • Free Bass is compatible with Kontakt Player, but previous freebies are not. Only full versions of those work with Player.

          Aloha!
The full versions of that series are compatible with Kontakt player. The free versions contain a patch just for taste of the bigger libraries. This Upright Bass is the exception where also the free version is compatible with Kontakt Player. Since I have so limited possibilities when thinking about Upright basses, I’m happy with this freebye. I don’t say I will use it many times but I’m happy to have also such sound.

      • Hi Brenny,

I’m very sorry for my misleading information – I dropped the ball with that, and for some reason, I thought the previous freebies were the same.

  2. i now tried to install this but was not successful. i got the serial which i added to native access, but from there i don’t have the option to install, only to locate the library.
but from the email sent, i only have the code, no option to download the library itself.

did anybody successfully install this ?

    • Yes,I got the code in the download page and didn’t see it elsewhere.I added to native access too and able to install from it(so don’t need to download from the webstite).it’s weird you can’t do that.I think you can check order page to enter download page.

      • thank you for reply! just checked again, about 2 hours later and i now have the option to install. guess it just took a while

    • Hey Klaus,

I just had a look, and I think the offer may be over (If anyone knows otherwise, please share) because I can’t see anything on the payment page either.

Hopefully, I’m missing something obvious, and there’s still time to grab it.

  3. Check out Adrien Moignard and Gonzalo Gergera “Classico”-album for some sweet retro grypsyjazz vybes! Oh, and be sure to youtube Joscho Stephan!
