Soundiron Re-Releases FREE Desk Bell Sample Library For Kontakt

Soundiron offers the enhanced edition of its Desk Bell sample library for Kontakt Player as a free download.

Yes, you’ve read that title correctly!

While I must admit I did a double take when this came across the virtual desk, it is all true… This free Kontakt sample library is based around one of those fun little bells you can find at the front desk of most establishments worldwide.

The library was originally released a few years ago, but Soundiron has now improved its original concept.

The good folks at Soundiron didn’t craft Desk Bell to be a simple one-note instrument. The temptation may have been there, but they went well above and beyond to craft something truly unique.

Desk Bell is sampled from a 3-inch polished brass bell and has had a luxurious sampling process to get to where it is now.

You get a single ding articulation with ten round-robin layers, nine velocity layers, and five velocities corresponding to a real cathedral where it was recorded. There are paid libraries for Kontakt that don’t get this sort of lavish attention paid to the recording process.

However, they didn’t just stop at giving this desk bell the works because it was used as sound design fare. You’ll find ambient pads with a certain organic quality you won’t find anywhere else.

There are twenty soundscapes, pads, and other textures made from this sampled bell. I won’t speculate on their resampling and resynthesis process, but it certainly has me impressed.

You also get access to 12 individual wavetables that can be used for synthesis purposes. Also included are 27 effects units and 20 effect presets. You’ll be able to make your own bespoke synth soundscapes and the like using the bell’s sound as its foundation.

For the low cost of nothing, it is hard not to suggest snagging Desk Bell. You can coax some wonderful sounds out of this that other synths might not even approach.

Desk Bell comes with lossless samples as well as a Kontakt Player library to use. Free Kontakt libraries are certainly common, but grabbing one for Kontakt Player is fairly rare.

As Desk Bell uses Kontakt, you can use this with Windows and Mac computers. Supported plugin formats are VST, VST3, AU, and AAX.
