Revolt DSP recently launched EVOampLite, a free guitar amp sim for Windows and macOS.
The plugin is the developer’s first amp release, and it’s designed to produce “over 40 years of rock and metal tone history in one plugin.”
EVOampLite is a VST3 and standalone release. The amp is a freebie dropped ahead of the forthcoming EVOampSuite, which Revolt DSP plans to launch in September 2024.
Revolt DSP explains, “EVOampLite provides you with one of the more modern flavours the suite has to offer, but it’s no one trick pony as you’ll see from the presets!”
EVOampLite is built around a 6L6 blue-channel amp. It features four stompboxes: reverb, delay, noise gate, and overdrive.
The plugin has two cabinets, including a bespoke 6L6-inspired cabinet and a “monstrously oversized” 4×12 cabinet with vintage speakers.
Revolt DSP has also provided 20 presets, which were created in collaboration with artists and YouTubers during testing.
Revolt DSP states that the amp is built on its “first gen of wave analogue modelling techniques,” which delivers “up to 60% less CPU usage than some of the amp sims we benchmarked against.”
The amp is a fairly lightweight release, as the Windows Zip file comes in at 20.6 MB, while the Mac Zip file is 19.9 MB
EVOampLite is currently in version 1.0.1, which was released earlier this month.
The latest update includes full ASIO driver support for the standalone plugin, allowing users to run the amp in dual/stereo input mode.
The minimum requirement for EVOampLite is Windows 10 (64-bit) and macOS X Sonoma 14.4.1.
The developer notes that it may work with older systems, although the above operating systems are the oldest they have tested it with.
To get your free copy of EVOampLite, you’ll need to provide an email address during the checkout process.
It’s worth noting that the website also requires many other personal details at checkout as if you were ordering a physical product. Some of our readers may be put off by this.
Revolt DSP offers several other free guitar plugin releases on its website, namely The Screamer overdrive pedal, STFU Noise Gate, Unholy Distortion, and the IRloader dual cabinet impulse response loader.
The developer also offers four £10 impulse response packs, namely BaddieCore, BassCore, TweedCore, and EzCore.
